We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]

For many in the state of Maryland, summer vacation officially started this week. We’re doing a little celebrating of our own this week with the boys to really kick-off summer! Don’t worry though, Mom is kicking off her summer with an all-day adventure in New York City tomorrow. Did I mention I’ll be there kid-free?
You can enter the sweepstakes below for a chance at a $100 Walmart Gift Card! That would definitely help you throw a fun summer party!

Anyway… back to the summer kick-off! With a quick trip to Walmart, we were able to grab everything you’d need for a fun table full of summer treats! We set up the perfect bar for sundaes, ice cream floats, or just snacking!
Setting up a bar like this is so ridiculously simple and let’s be honest, that’s pretty much our goal as parents: keep things easy and simple! While we were at Walmart, we grabbed cups, napkins, plates, bowls and a tablecloth from the party section. Everything we got was only $.98 each. We already had the straws, but I believe they’re around right around $2.
To make life even easier, we put cupcake liners in a cupcake pan and then put the toppings in there. When everything’s done, just dump the pan into the trash and wash your pan. Easy peasy! I actually save peanut butter jars and let the kids use them for this so they’re not using glass, but I used a mason jar for my ice cream float!
I’m a sucker for candy bar ice cream, so I grabbed a box of SNICKERS® Ice Cream Bars for our kick-off! These are definitely Mommy’s favorite treat! What I decided to do with them though is a bit different. We made an ice cream float!
To make a SNICKERS® Ice Cream Bar Float, you’ll need one SNICKERS® Ice Cream Bar, a straw, and some soda. We went with Cola, but pretty much anything will work! You’ll want to break your ice cream bar in half to expose the ice cream and then pour soda over it! Done! Of course, you can always add some of the yummy toppings if you’d like! I did add M&M’s® Plain & Peanut, some crushed cookies and a little extra chocolate syrup! Yummy!!!!
Of course, you could also do ice cream floats the regular way with ice cream or try it with the M&M’s® Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches! How awesome does that sound?
You can find the M&M’s® Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches and the SNICKERS® Ice Cream Bars in the ice cream aisle at Walmart! In my store, they were right next to each other…. begging me to buy them! I obliged, of course!
