Being a work at home parent is a tough job to manage! When I first started this blog I didn’t consider it a job, but it has definitely become one and while that’s awesome, it has changed the way I work. I’ve heard of people hiring babysitters when they’re home and thought it was crazy, but I totally get it now. You may be feeling guilty about the very concept of hiring someone to care for your children while you work from home. It is understandable that your goal was to spend more time with your kids, and if you are hiring help it might take away from that goal. The fact is, to be the best parent you can be, sometimes you just need a little outside help. These reasons are things you can’t deny will be worthwhile.
Your productivity level will go up. Without having to stop often to tend to your children’s needs, you’ll be focused on your work. This means you will finish projects faster. It will help you to get more work done in a much shorter amount of time with ease. Being more productive equals more money in your pocket and more time for your family outside your work.
Your time management will allow you more time to play with your kids. As stated above, productivity ends up in better time management. You’ll be able to work during work hours, and play during play hours. That means your kids won’t get the short end of the stick and continue to hear you say, “Just one more thing and we can play”.
Your clients will get superior quality work. You have to be honest and admit that when you are distracted or having to go back and forth to complete projects, you are most likely not giving your clients the work they deserve. You are possibly giving them less than your best, and that means you won’t always retain clients, or may even have to redo work later on. Being able to focus means your clients get your best. This furthers your work goals and helps you build a future with your business.
Your home will be cleaner. One benefit of hiring a babysitter when you work from home is that your kids won’t be making messes while you work. Your babysitter or nanny will be doing projects and crafts with them, or maybe watching movies or taking them outside to play. You won’t have tons of toys to pick up, because they will take care of that for you.
Your kids will have fun. While you want to be there for your kids every waking hour, sometimes they still need fun outside the family unit. Instead of feeling neglected while you work, they will be having fun with their babysitter. Then when you are done with work, you get to focus solely on your children and create those lasting bonds you want and need. The result is happier children who don’t feel in the way, neglected, or overlooked.
These reasons to hire a babysitter when you work from home are important for you to consider as a work at home parent. Even just a few hours a week can make a huge difference in your productivity and work load. It can mean the difference between taking the whole weekend off to spend with family, or sneaking in a few hours of work while they are doing something else. Revitalize your work flow and make your family truly your focus without distractions when you hire a babysitter to help you while you work from home.

Yes. I so totally agree with this post!!! If you worked outside the home, you’d have childcare. This investment in a home biz will pay you back tenfold.

This is so true! I didn’t start blogging until my third baby was born and it was so hard to find the time, I mostly did work when everyone was in bed. Now that they are all in school, I have many more opportunities for quiet, but for those with little ones, this is SO important!

The amount of things you can get done in a short amount of time is amazing when you don’t have to stop in the middle and then try to refocus every few minutes.

I couldn’t agree more! When my youngest was premature and couldn’t go to daycare, we hired a full time sitter while I worked from home. Otherwise I wouldn’t have gotten anything done during the day. And I was already trying to work full time while being sleep-deprived!!
