Yes! It is bound to happen at some point. You know, cough-getting sick-cough. It may be yearly, or if you’re one of the lucky ones, you may only get sick every few years. Even moms catch the stomach bug, the flu, or a cold from time to time. Here are some truths that you can expect, should you wind up sleeping on the bathroom floor or coughing so hard you pee your pants, while your kiddos are healthy and laughing the day away.

Television Makes a Great Babysitter

While it is generally frowned upon, to let your children watch the television all day long, there is one time that it is acceptable. When you come down with an illness! This will be the one and only time you will not mind hearing the theme song of your kid’s favorite show repeat itself, over and over all day. Do not feel guilty about allowing the kids to sit planted in front of the screen, because at least you know they are staying out of trouble. Everyone knows when mom is sick, everything falls apart. She has to do anything she can to keep her sanity while she heals.

Potato Chips as a Meal? Cookies for Breakfast? Yes, please!

Potato Chips for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Who would have thought you would have ever allowed such a thing? When you are stuck being BFFs with the great white throne, suddenly it becomes okay. Plus, after eating an entire bag of potato chips in one day, your little ones will get tired of them. Perhaps from then on out they will decide to snack on healthy food for the next few days. Doubtful, but it is a good thought, right?

Laundry, Schmaundry, It Can Wait as Long as You Need it To

You likely have a good routine down, in which the kids eat breakfast, then brush their teeth, and change into clean clothes for the day. Then you can finally get started on laundry and other household chores. Well, not when you are feeling ill. Even if the kiddos are out of clean undies. There is no way you are getting up, to throw a load of soiled clothes, Flipping undies inside out, or going commando never hurt anyone, right? The laundry can and will wait another day or two, or even three. It may be another week before you can even make it to the laundry room. No shame in the no-energy-to-do-laundry-game.

Mom is Still Required to Do Everything

Listen, when mom gets sick, there is no substitute quite like us. We don’t have a replacement we can call in. Even if we’re being BFFs with the potty and throwing potato chips and cookies at our kids to ensure they don’t die of hunger. Maybe we can get away without doing the laundry and feeding our kids crappy foods, but we’re still required to fill in the blanks. Diaper changes must still happen and our kids still need to be kept alive.

We all know mom has to take care of everyone else. In order to do that, mom has to take care of herself!

We always have plenty of Kleenex at home! When you take the time to be well with the softness of Kleenex this season, you can have a more positive impact on those around you- whether it’s family, friends, community or in the workplace. So, let America’s softest tissue be there for you, not only when you need it the most, but for those times that you just need a little extra softness and care!

Of course, since mom has to do all the shopping, even while sick – shop at Walmart.com this season + all year round with free 2 day shipping! We grabbed a Kleenex Ultra bundle pack during our last trip to the store.

Hey mom, hang in there. There is an end in sight. Soon, you will be able to stand up without throwing up or coughing your head off. May your cough medicine be strong and may your kids sleep in past dawn.
