We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]

My parents divorced when I was in elementary school. I honestly don’t remember when, but I want to say I was in 2nd grade. I’m sure my Mom will correct me on that, but it was around that time. After that, my mom worked two jobs for the next 13 or so years. That’s a lot of years to sacrifice your “free” time, time that could be spent with your family, to provide the best that you can for your kids.
As a mother now myself, I can better understand the sacrifices that my mom made for us. My sister and I had everything we needed and most of what we wanted. Sure, we weren’t wearing the top-of-the-line name brand clothes and getting all of the new gadgets, but we had plenty. We played sports, had birthday parties and went on vacation every year.
I love that we’re now able to give her something special for Mother’s Day, with help from American Greetings, as a thank-you for everything she’s done for us when she didn’t have to. We would have been fine had she just worked the one job. That second job allowed us to have all of the extras that I mentioned earlier.
My mom had major back surgery in March that required her to be off work about 12 weeks. She’s had some complications, which have made her recovery even worse. I can’t be over there as much as I would like to (even though she only lives about 12 minutes from us) because of the boys. Me chasing the boys around Mommom’s house isn’t very helpful or relaxing for her.
For Mother’s Day this year, I found everything I need at Walmart. American Greetings has a “One-Stop Shop” set up that really has something for every Mom or Grandmother on your list! In our store, I found an entire aisle of American Greetings Mother’s Day gifts in the section when I first walk in, where seasonal holiday goodies are always found! The “One-Stop Shop” for the Best Mom’s Day Ever from American Greetings includes a ton of cards, stuffed animals, picture frames, pillows, flowers, gift bags and tissue paper to wrap it with and so much more!
I’m the type to sit through and read every card available until I find one that’s absolutely perfect. I know everyone’s not that way, but I think most women are. With the Best Mother’s Day Ever shop at Walmart, you’re sure to find the perfect card for whatever type of Mom you’re looking for!
Since my mom is currently hanging out at home, I grabbed one of these really cute pillows to help prop her up. Charlie knows how much Mommom loves bears (Mom probably has 15 of them in her living room from various Relay for Life events or that were just given as gifts). He’s been wanting to bring Mommom a bear “to make her feel better” since she came home from the hospital. This is the perfect gift for Mommom from Charlie (and Owen, too)!
Mom is pretty much out of commission for awhile, so I thought it’d be nice to take her some meals to keep in the freezer. I whipped up a couple of casserole dishes to stock the freezer so she can just pop them in the oven and have dinner ready. Her husband works long hours, meaning he is gone for breakfast, lunch and usually dinner. Mom fed us all those years, so it’s an extra special Mother’s Day being able to feed her (for more than just a lunch out).

Your son is so adorable with that teddy bear for Mommom! I know she will love the gifts from American Greetings and I love that you thought to make her some food as well. You are a wonderful daughter. #client
