Thanks to Turtle Beach for sponsoring today’s post. As always, all opinions are my own.

My husband plays video games and that’s okay with me.
I see memes all the time about husbands playing video games and while I laugh along with them, I honestly don’t mind.
Of course, that’s assuming he’s also doing his share around the house and still spending quality time with his family.
Like most ’80s kids, we grew up playing video games. It’s just part of who we are. I think we can all relate to blowing into the old game cartridges, switching from A/V mode, and the fear of turning a game off because it might not save.
Gaming has definitely come a long way from the Atari and NES days. I even got my husband a new Xbox One for Christmas a couple of years ago. It was a total splurge and I knew he wouldn’t spend it, but definitely would enjoy it!

In fact, before we were married we would stay up into the wee hours of the morning playing video games together. It was something fun that we did together.
If you have a problem with your husband playing video games too much, you need to be honest with him and yourself. If you do a quick google of husbands and video games, you’ll see a lot of chat about men being addicted to video games and it pretty much ruining marriages. I do believe it’s something you could become addicted to. If you’re being honest with your spouse and telling him that you think he’s playing too much, you should be able to talk it out and set some boundaries, like anything else in a marriage. You could try playing with him. You’ll get some quality time with your spouse and maybe even have some fun.
Honestly, when it comes down to it, the things my husband could be doing instead of playing video games is much worse. He could be out at a bar with friends (which is okay, but not something I’d want him doing every day), he could be cheating (never okay), or he could be hanging out at someone else’s house playing video games.
The great thing about video games now is that you can actually chat with friends while playing video games together, but you do not need to be in the same room!

Turtle Beach is the category leader in console gaming headsets and we were pretty excited to try the new RECON CHAT headset for the Xbox One. Did I mention it’s just under $20? That’s an awesome price for a serious upgrade!
The headset is super easy to set-up, so you can get right to chatting! The RECON CHAT easily connects to Xbox One and PS4 controllers via the 3.5mm jack.
What I think is really cool about the RECON CHAT headset is that the gamer will hear game audio through the TV through both ears thanks to the unique open ear-cup design. This also means he can hear his wife and kids and not completely zone out in his own little world.

And while no one in our house currently wears glasses, I used to. The RECON CHAT headset has a great SpecsFit™ glasses friendly design, which alleviates pressure from the headset pushing on your glasses! How neat is that?
I noticed immediately how flexible the mic was on this gaming headset. It really helps you position your mic exactly where you need it. The sound quality coming to and from the headset is great! I remember years ago playing and thinking how awful some of the people’s mics were and having to repeat ourselves because of the muffled sounds coming out of our own.

This is definitely not the case here! The large 40mm speaker along with Turtle Beach’s renowned high-sensitivity mic deliver crystal clear chat audio to and from other players.
(NOTE: The RECON CHAT is a “chat only” headset, meaning that gamers will hear game audio from the TV or home entertainment system, and will only hear chat audio from other players through the headset.)
I know in our house of boys, that video games are going to be a thing. Charlie already loves playing video games (usually Minecraft) and I love that it’s something the boys can bond over. Oh, and Mom. Mom used to be a bit of a gamer herself.

Turtle Beach is running a giveaway where the prize is one of the RECON CHAT headsets! Be sure to enter using the widget below.
