1. Take a boat ride in a Glass Bottom Boat
Enjoy Florida’s oldest attraction with a Glass Bottom Boat tour! You can take a peek at thousands of fish, turtles, and maybe even an alligator! The kids would definitely love this one!
2. Camp or Stay in a Cabin
While there are some great lodging options (Ocala/Marion County Lodging) available in the area, I think it’s fun to go camping with kids. If you’re the camping kind, there are plenty of places to camp in Ocala/Marion County!
If you’re not quite ready to go all out camping, you can stay in a cabin. Silver Springs State Park offers cabin rentals that accommodate up to six guests. Each cabin includes a full dining area, two bedrooms, one bath, a stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, a large screened porch, and a kitchen stocked with dishes, pots and pans, and silverware. Outside you’ll find picnic tables and a campfire ring with seating.
3. Jump Around in Ocala’s Splash Pad
If the kids need to get some energy out and cool down while you’re out and about, let them jump around at Downtown Ocala’s Splash Pad in Citizen’s Circle.
4. Pick your own produce
Spend some time at one of the beautiful farms and fill baskets with fresh fruits. You may be able to take a peek at what a working organic farm looks like behind the scenes. Take your pick among berries, citrus, watermelon, and even a goat dairy farm!
5. Go on a hike
Take the whole family on one of the many hiking trails and discover local wildlife while taking in the beautiful surroundings of Ocala/Marion County. Check out our tips for hiking with kids.
6. Swim
Of course, there are plenty of areas to go for a swim in Ocala/Marion County!
Skip the pool and do something a little different with a jump into the Juniper Springs Swimming Hole, the swimming area at Fore Lake, or Carney Island Lake on a hot summer’s day.
7. Explore a Horse Farm
Did you know that Ocala/Marion County is the Horse Capital of the World?!? Take a tour of some of the most extraordinary horse farms and maybe even go for a ride!
8. Pet some animals
What little kid doesn’t love a petting zoo? I know mine do! Petting Zoo Ocala would be great for the little ones.
