I know most schools are in session now, but I wanted to share some of our favorite things we did and used to prep for Kindergarten!

We're sharing some of the things we did to prep for Kindergarten! Including back to school lists and summer fun!

Over the summer, we tried out some products from Lakeshore Learning. I love being able to have fun while learning because learning really should be fun!

The Road to Reading Activity Center is perfect for Kindergarten! Kids start out completing alphabet puzzles to learn the letter sounds and build up to simple words. In the end, they can put all of their reading skills together to read an entire book on their own! The activity center includes 5 folders—each with letter sound puzzles, word-building cards & letter tiles, sight-word cards and a book. Reading is such an important skill for our little ones to learn and any head start I can give them, that's a plus in my book!

Our boys love playing dress-up, so I was super excited for them to play with the Tell-A-Story Dress-Up Trunk! Our new playroom actually has a dress-up area and this fits in perfectly! Imagination is so important and this adorable set really lets them get carried away to another world. Inspired by Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs and Goldilocks & the Three Bears, this 11-piece set includes 2 machine-washable costumes that easily slip on over clothes, plus an easy-fit cap, plush masks, fuzzy “bear ears” and a basket—all in a 17 1⁄2″ x 14″ x 13 1⁄8″ plastic storage trunk. They fit most kids ages 3 to 5, which is perfect for my boys and the preschool – Kindergarten crew.

Lakeshore Learning also sent us Alphabet Learning Locks. Charlie is pretty good with his alphabet, but sometimes gets mixed-up with lowercase. These awesome locks are great for really building those alphabet skills! The set comes with 26 locks and 26 keys. Kids just choose and key (with a lowercase letter) and find the matching lock (with the uppercase letter and picture) to unlock! They'll love being able to know they made a match when they lock instantly unlocks!
staples-back-to-schoolNew school supplies are always exciting! Staples sent us an assortment of fun supplies that we'll send with Charlie to school and some to keep at home, too. I love that you can pick up all the school supplies you need at Staples, from lunch bags and water bottles to crayons and folders. Be sure to keep an eye out for all of those back to school sales, where you can stock up on many items for less than $1!

And of course, a Kindergartner is going to need a new bookbag! We snagged a great deal on one from Land's End. Charlie is super excited about it and why wouldn't he be? It's a great backpack that's going to last him a few years.

Eating lunch in the cafeteria is like a rite of passage, right? That means for kindergarten, we needed a lunch box and some of our favorite lunch-packing supplies.

Bentology sent us a great Bento Kit. I saw them at Blogger Bash this year and knew it would be great for Charlie. The Bento Kit includes an insulated bentoware lunch bag, outer container, five translucent inner bento box containers, 3 water-tight lids, and a stainless steel fork and spoon set! Seriously, all you need to do is add the food and a cool pack!

We've been loving our bento kit for some non-sandwich lunches.

And every lunch needs a drink! We're excited to include some of our favorite Juicy Juice varieties in Charlie's lunchbox this year. We've typically just grab fruit punch or apple, but the boys are loving the new combo flavors like Peach Apple and Strawberry Watermelon. The kids love the sweet taste and I love that there's no added sugar! We were actually able to test out some fun drink recipes and make a few crafts at the Kidz Vuz Back to School Bash over the summer.

When you're shopping for back-to-school clothes, don't forget about new underwear! I know with little boys, just getting them to wear underwear is a plus! I love these fun days of week briefs from Fruit of the Loom for my little guys! With a variety of comfortable styles, sizes and designs, as well as three additional undies in each bonus pack, parents can easily and affordably make sure everyone in their family starts their first day with a good foundation.

Before your little one heads off to Kindergarten, read a few books to help them get comfortable with the idea. There are a lot of books about heading to school, but you'll find plenty specifically for kindergarten!

We received some of the above items for inclusion, but our opinions are all our own.
