Staying Active after Kids

This post is sponsored by Poise® but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

I grew up playing softball, volleyball, and even a little basketball. After high school, my time playing sports as I knew it had come to an end.

I’ve struggled since leaving high school with staying active.

Of course, staying active before kids and staying active after kids is entirely different.

1. Find something you actually want to do

I know some people just love hitting the gym. I’m not one of them. I mean, I like walking/running on the treadmill if I’m watching a show on my iPad, but that about sums it up for me.

When someone posted in my local MOMS Club facebook group that a church team was looking for another player, I couldn’t type fast enough to say that I was in!

Playing softball again keeps me active in a way that I actually want to be active. And not just that, but I can socialize with a bunch of women my age (some older, some younger). I have a fantastic time while staying active and working towards my fitness goals.

2. Be prepared

Okay, so typical softball equipment entails cleats, a bat, a ball, and a glove.

As a thirty-something mom of two, that also means I should probably have some pain relieving cream and Poise® Pads with ContourFIT Design on hand.

With a group of women (several of us having children in the last few years), we actually joke about those real life situations we have now on the bench. You know, things like peeing your pants while running the bases.

Poise® is committed to being a resource for all women with light bladder leakage and has designed a variety of products that move with your body and protect you from leaks so you can worry less and focus on what really matters – You! Even if you’re not rounding the bases like I am, you’ve likely experienced light bladder leakage while laughing or sneezing.

With 1 in 3 women experiencing light bladder leakage, Poise® is helping you take control of bladder leaks by offering products designed to give you the comfort you want and the protection you need. Poise® now has ContourFit Design to fit your curves better than before.

Try Poise® Light Absorbency Pads, Ultra Thin, Long Length. They’re up to 40 percent thinner than regular Poise pads, have maximum absorbency and an Absorb-Loc core to quickly lock away wetness and odor.

You can pick up Poise® at your local Walmart store or you can use Walmart’s Online Grocery Pick-up to make shopping much easier, more discreet, and save time!

And of course, more often than not – we need that pain relieving cream for our muscles that remember we’re not 16 anymore.

3. Involve friends and family

If you involve your friends and family, you’re more likely to stick with your fitness routine and stay active.

That means you need to recruit your friends to join a team with you, hit the park with the kids and run around, or enjoy a long walk with the hubby.

4. Make time for yourself

As a mom and business owner, it’s so easy to forget about making time for myself.

Whether that means hitting a spa, reading a book, or binge watching an entire series (no judgement here), we all need some me-time to do something that’s just for us.

My softball team runs from about mid-March to mid-July, but it’s just once a week. That means that on Monday nights, I have my special time on the softball field for a couple of hours.

Yes, it is indeed to challenge to stay active after the kids. I guess I just have to wait a little more and play with the kids once they’re a little older.

I love this post of yours. I lost a lot of confidence in myself and time to workout when we had our baby last month. My doctor has cleared me to workout but I just can’t find the time. Thank you for these tips!

Yes, never forget about you! As a sports teacher and trainer, I know how hard is sport and discipline, but if you do, try to do it with all your heart, and then everything will be fantastic! 🙂 Thank you for this post – happy to hear inspirational talks!
