With majestic state parks, sprawling coastlines, rolling hills, and meandering rivers is there any more you could ask for than the breathtaking scenery of Delaware?

Although it's the second smallest state, Delaware doesn't lack in splendor. Here is my list of 7 most beautiful things to see in Delaware, from river towns and historic hamlets to beachside sanctuaries.

Russell W. Peterson Urban Wildlife Refuge

A nature lover's delight, the Russell W. Peterson Urban Wildlife Refuge is one of the only urban refuges in the country.

This urban wildlife refuge is a rare gem, so whether you paddle or take the water taxi, don't forget to add this one to your bucket list.

Fenwick Island

Fenwick Island State Park is a peaceful location to enjoy the day under the sun with a vast amount of opportunities from windsurfing to fishing and family fun around each corner.

Hidden along the southern border of Delaware, Fenwick Island’s many serene coastlines offer a unique vibe and a break from the overrun frenzy of the town’s neighbor across the state line.

Step back in time with a visit to the historical lighthouse, this state park will please everyone.

Trap Pond State Park

With Trap Pond State Park being home to one of the last natural stands of the majestic bald cypress trees, there may not be a more enchanting location in Delaware than this.

Take a canoe into the swamp's wetlands and delight in the abundance of towering loblolly pines, come face to face with the vast wildlife and smell the fragrant scent of wildflowers.

Whether you are hiking or fishing, camping or canoeing, this state park will enthuse even the most discerning naturalist.

Marian Coffin Gardens at Gibraltar

Almost hidden in plain sight, tucked behind a magnificent stone wall, lies a dilapidated mansion that soars above captivating gardens.

Although ivy scales the stone walls and the broken windows disclose Though ivy climbs the mansion’s stone walls and its shattered windows reveal a drab, crumbling inside, the gardens are diligently nurtured and erupting with brilliant life.

Meandering through the intricate foliage unveils sculptures, iron gates, urns, and fountains fixed amid the plants.

Don't miss the spectacular flower and water gardens complete with a reflecting pool filled with epic koi and waterlilies.

Nemours Estate

Guests will feel like they have stepped into a fairy tale at Nemours Estate, with the largest French gardens in North America.

This awe-inspiring estate was modeled after Versailles and was exquisitely designed with artwork, fountains, and sculptures.

Situated on 200 acres, add this masterpiece to your list of most beautiful in Delaware.

Winterthur

Standing amidst stretched out grounds sheltered with spellbinding woodlands and manicured gardens, lies a once regal private home that's now a museum.

You’ll find an immense amount of artistic and antique treasures after stepping inside this glorious manor.

Nature-lovers are delighted with the nearly 1,000 acres of land that stretches across the property.

Wander through the Enchanted Woods and see the fanciful marvels like fairy houses, an elf house, and a mushroom spring that sprays mist.

Serene sanctuaries, a captivating sundial, and koi ponds full of fish await.

Wilmington

From historic train rides to museums of local and natural history to casinos and opera houses to winery tours–a visit to Wilmington has something to offer all, whether a solo traveler or family holiday.

Even if it's just a day trip, Wilmington is a must-see.
