If you haven't noticed, Minions are pretty popular and have been for awhile. I don't think they're going anywhere either. We love the Despicable Me movies in our house and know that we'll love Minions, too! What a better way to welcome the Minions to summer than a frozen treat?
While walking around Food Lion this week, we found some Mott's items that had our favorite Minions all over them! I grabbed some of the necessities in our house like applesauce, juice, and juice boxes, all of which were sporting a new Minions design.
Collect the Limited Time Only packaging but get them quickly because they are only available through July 31st, 2015 in all Food Lion stores.
- 2 4-oz containers Mott's Mango Peach Apple sauce
- 6.75 oz Mott's Apple Juicebox
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- ½ cup Mott's for Tots Grape
- 8 mini marshmallows
- Blend apple sauce and apple juice until well combined.
- Fill half of apple sauce container with apple sauce mixture.
- Place two mini marshmallows inside at the edge (these will be the eyes).
- Cover with aluminum foil.
- Use knife to put a small slit in the middle.
- Slide popsicle stick into slit, should be standing straight up in the middle.
- Freeze about an hour.
- Blend frozen blueberries and grape Mott's for Tots.
- Pour over the frozen apple sauce mixture.
- Freeze about 45-60 minutes.
- Run cold water over the outside of the container to loosen, so you can remove and enjoy!
These are so much fun and the kids love them! I really feel good about giving the boys these frozen fruit pops because they're full of fruit and the Mott's items are an excellent source of Vitamin C.
Another great thing about our Minion Frozen Fruit Pops is that they use the same container that the apple sauce is packaged in!
After putting the mini marshmallows in, I used a toothpick to poke them down a little so they wind up in the yellow section instead of the dark bottom.
One thing I didn't know, but experimented with was that the marshmallows didn't freeze. They're still ooey gooey marshmallows, which is a great little surprise in a frozen treat!
If you just stab the popsicle stick in the foil, your hole will be too big and the stick will move around instead of staying in the middle.
Since the blueberries were frozen, they freeze up quicker than the applesauce mixture! I left it a little chunky because I love the blueberry bites!
