Heading into the holiday season makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Okay, maybe a little stressed, too. The past few years we’ve really worked on dropping the stress and focusing on that warm and fuzzy.
One of my favorite things about fall and the holidays is that awesome spice scent that seems to pop up everywhere. The thing is though, I’m not just a fan of smelling them! Those cinnamon and clove spices taste amazing, too! We put together a quick and tasty cocktail that’s perfect for those nights you need something a little cozy.
Honestly, the most important ingredient in this easy cocktail is the spiced rum. Of course, Puerto Rico is known throughout the world for its excellent rum. The noble tradition of producing the most refined and exquisite rums is an art that has been cultivated since 1865 by Destilería Serrallés, the birthplace of Puerto Rican rum. I used Don Q‘s premium spiced rum. Don Q Spiced has warm, radiant, rich, golden hues and a medium to heavy texture that’s evident on the glass.
Don Q is known for their quality and has invested significant time, knowledge, and resources in making their distillery one of the most environmentally responsible and greenest in the spirits industry.
Not only do they reap the benefits of real energy return and useful post-production materials, but they are one of the few distilleries in the world that doesn’t dump waste water in the ocean. I love that they are able to produce their high-quality rum, while doing what’s best for the people and wildlife of their lovely island, Puerto Rico.
The great thing about this Cafe Panama Cocktail is that it can be served hot or cold!
To serve hot, combine all ingredients minus the garnish in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat until hot. Pour into a mug and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
To serve cold, add all the ingredients to a highball glass filled with ice, stir gently to combine, and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
- 1 ½ ounces Don Q Spiced Rum
- 1 ounce espresso or strong-brewed coffee
- 1 ounce full-fat coconut milk
- ½ ounce simple syrup
- Cinnamon stick, for garnish
- To serve hot, combine all ingredients minus the garnish in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat until hot. Pour into a mug and garnish with a cinnamon stick
- To serve cold, add all the ingredients to a highball glass filled with ice, stir gently to combine, and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
I think this cozy cocktail is the perfect addition to a dessert bar or late-night family gathering.
