Fall or autumn? No matter what you call it there are so many great things that comes with this change of season. S’mores, tailgating, bonfires, leaves changing, cool weather, apples, pumpkins, hayrides and more! This is a great time of the year, packed with Halloween and Thanksgiving, there is so much to do!

Date night can get expensive fast, but you don’t have to break the bank to have fun! Here are 5 great ideas that will allow you to get out and enjoy the weather and have your wallet smiling because they are free!!

5 Free or Cheap Fall Date Ideas

Bike ride through the fall leaves – With the leaves changing and falling, and the weather as beautiful as can be it’s the perfect time to break out that bike! Take a bike ride around your neighborhood and enjoy the fall foliage. You can head to your local park or bike trail as well. Biking not your thing? Try rollerblading or even just a simple walk! You never know what you might see with all the wonders of fall!

Bonfires – Set up a fire and sit around and chat. Fire pits make this even easier! Some of the best conversation happens around a bonfire! Roast hot dogs for dinner and for dessert, roast marshmallows and make some s’mores. Have a beer or a glass of wine or some soda and have a blast!

Go on a Hayride – Many of the pick your own apple and pumpkin farms offer free hayrides out to the orchard or pumpkin patch. You would then pick your produce and then come back and pay at the end. Take the hayride out and then enjoy a stroll through the fields and take a nice hayride back. Many also have other events you can pick a nice spot sit and just people watch!

Visit a Fall Festival – Many cities have fall festivals that are free. You can walk around and view vendors and take everything in. They normally have some kind of stage performance as well. It will only cost you to ride rides, buy food, play games or buy from the vendors. Many have corn mazes for free as well!

Rake leaves like kids – Rake up a pile of leaves and jump around, kick it and have a blast. Yes, you will have to rake them up again, but don’t you remember how fun that was as a kid? When you are done, lie down and see what shapes the clouds are making! Talk about fun!

So don’t let fall pass you by this year! Get out and enjoy it for free! What are some of you favorite fall activities?
