We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]
Family Fun at Hershey Lodge

Earlier this month we had a fun weekend getaway. You probably saw some of our fun on Instagram and Facebook. While we were in the Hershey – Harrisburg area, we stayed at Hershey Lodge.

When I first walked in, my immediate thought was “Wow. This is fancy. Maybe too fancy for my kids.” I was seriously wrong. While it does appear fancy, Hershey Lodge is definitely a place for families!
The Room
We got settled into our Double Queen Guest Room in Kisses Tower before heading out for the evening. I highly recommend this tower because it was close to everything, which is great for those of us with little ones.
Check out our video below for a tour of our room.
Activities
At check-in, I was given a schedule of activities for the weekend. This is a big win for me. This is not just a hotel to sleep at night, but there are actual activities going on!
There is even a Kids’ Check-In! Kids can stop in here during the designated time and do a little check-in of their own. They’ll sign the guest book, participate in a Hershey’s candy guessing game, and even receive a chocolate surprise!
Here is the schedule (please excuse the crumples, Owen got to it). This two-sided sheet also has all the information about the restaurants on property, other local events going on, shuttle information, and more.
Charlie and I went for the Live Entertainment on Friday night. It was a magician. He interacted great with the kids (and adults) and had several of them help him with his act. This was a really fun surprise!
Saturday’s weather was a bit out of the ordinary for April. If you caught some of our pictures, you know it snowed!
With the wacky weather, the activities were changed around a little. I’m bummed we missed doing S’mores at Swan Lake, but Charlie and Tom did the Scavenger Hunt and board games that replaced it.

The boys are not too big on costumed characters right now, but there are scheduled times (see the calendar) of character appearances. This was pretty awesome! There were no long lines to wait in to visit with any of the characters, which we all know doesn’t fly well with the little ones. Since the boys didn’t want a picture, I got one! The characters were all walking around with staff that was offering to take your picture. I loved that I didn’t have to awkwardly ask someone, she just volunteered because that’s what she was there for!
Other things you’ll find around property are an outdoor pool, a miniature golf course, and a new Indoor Pool Complex.

The new Indoor Pool Complex at Hershey Lodge looks absolutely amazing! They were working on it while we were there in preparation for the May opening.
The theming of the facility will include Hershey’s Product Characters and elements reflecting The Boardwalk at Hersheypark. Features of the aquatic facility include:
- Two pools
- Twizzlers Twists Slides
- Reese’s Water Walk
- Water play structure
- Outdoor splash pad
The entire new complex will measure 30,000 square feet, with the aquatic facility measuring 20,000 square feet. The capacity of the complex is 781 people.

Food
Hershey Lodge offers five dining options! Start your day off right with a cafe style breakfast at Cocoa Beanery or sit down for a hearty morning meal at Lebbie Lebkicher’s. For lunch or dinner with the family, visit The Bears’ Den or Hershey Grill, and gourmet dinners are best enjoyed at The Forebay.
We ate at Lebbie Lebkicher’s for breakfast on Saturday and had a great experience. They had coloring sheets, special crayon boxes for the kids, and their chocolate milk arrived in a Hershey cup to take home. The buffet was perfect for the boys (under 4 eat free) and I got the Chocolate Raspberry Pancakes. Yummy!!!
Over the weekend we popped into Cocoa Beanery several times. I absolutely love this place. In here you can find coffee, soda, tea, bagels, pastries, sandwiches, soups, ice cream, chips, and a bunch of other things I’m sure I’m leaving out. There are booths, tables, and even couches in front of a fireplace!
We had an Italian sandwich Friday night that was loaded with meats and veggies on what I believe is a homemade roll. Honestly, I thought it was expensive, but after eating it, it’s totally worth it. Charlie and I snagged ice cream one night before heading back to our room, Tom grabbed some desserts there one night, and then we ate breakfast there on Sunday morning.
Other Features
The lobby area of the hotel is huge! There is a beautiful fire place near the bar in the back that has seating all the way around. If I didn’t have the kids with me, I would have grabbed a seat and parked here for hours.
The entire main floor is so welcoming. They really want you to sit and stay awhile.
Don’t forget the bar! Tom brought me up a Chocolate Martini (one of the signature cocktails) from the bar when I stayed in the room with Owen. Apparently there is a clear version and a creamy version. He chose the creamy for me, which was probably a good choice.
One of the things I really love as a family with little ones is being able to take the complimentary shuttle from Hershey Lodge to HersheyPark, Chocolate World, and Hershey Gardens. Not only does this save me money on parking, but we were dropped off right out front!

We had a great time as a family and I know we’ll be returning for another stay here! I’m sure I’m forgetting to tell you about other things that Hershey Lodge offers, but you’ll have to check it out for yourself!
Have you been to Hershey?
