Try these tips to avoid being the hot mess mom this year.

We’ve all been there. School is starting and we don’t want to be the mom bringing our kids into school in our pajamas. Believe me, there is no judgment coming from me. However, it’s nice to feel put together as a mom. If you are looking to do a little more self-care this year, this is how to not be the hot mess mom.

GET UP A LITTLE EARLIER

Something I noticed when it comes to not being a hot mess mom is giving myself five extra minutes in the morning. Setting my alarm earlier has helped me to not reach hot mess mom status. Sure, I still have my days, but for the most part, just waking up a little earlier has helped so much.

PUT ON A LITTLE MAKEUP

It’s amazing how much a little makeup has changed my life. When I put on makeup, I feel a little more put together. I’ve never been a big makeup person, but it does make me feel a little more like a grown-up. I don’t have to put on a lot of makeup, but a little bit has been a great for boosting my confidence.

You should see me when I have a little makeup compared to when I don’t – it’s a world of difference. Not to mention, I feel so much more confident when I have makeup on.

GET DRESSED IN REAL CLOTHES

I’m the first mom to want to wear pajamas at the school drop off. However, I feel more confident when I’m wearing real clothes. Wearing real clothes helps me to feel ready for the day and I’m sure it’s a little less embarrassing for my kids. You can feel less like a hot mess and more like a put together mom by putting on some real clothes.

DO THE LITTLE THINGS

The key to not being a hot mess mom is doing the little things. Take a shower, Brush your hair, brush your teeth, and put on a little perfume (or oil if that’s your thing). Since I have started doing these things, I just feel more like a woman and little less like a mombie.

I have a quick morning routine down that entails hopping in the shower (and no, I’m not always shaving because that’s just not high up there on my list), brushing my teeth, drying my hair, and putting a little makeup on.

My new favorite toothpaste is from Tom’s of Maine®, a trusted name in natural for over 47 years. All Tom’s of Maine® natural personal care and oral care products are made with no artificial colors, flavors, fragrances or preservatives, nor are they tested on animals. I recently picked up Tom’s of Maine® Luminous White™ Toothpaste Clean Mint at my local Martin’s Food Market.

Luminous White™ is Tom’s of Maine’s® most advanced whitening toothpaste ever and it’s safe for everyday use.

EAT BREAKFAST

I’m not going to lie, I’m one that forgets to eat breakfast. It’s usually lunch time before I realize what time it is. Eating a healthy breakfast has been an important part of my weight loss routine. Many of you have probably followed my story. It’s incredible how a healthy breakfast can truly change your life, in a good way. I’m just a better mom, all around, when I eat something that’s good for me.

Being put together for preschool drop-off doesn’t happen every single day, but I do make it a priority. Sure, there are days that I am not well put together. However, the majority of time, I follow my routine as described in this post and I feel ready for the day!

What is your morning self-care routine like?
