Breakfast on Morning Checklist

Can you believe it? School is just around the corner. For some of you, depending where you are, you may go back even earlier than we do. This year, Charlie will be in Kindergarten. That means my munchkin will be at school ALL day. Last year he did Pre-K at the school, which is just a half day. I know this is going to be a bit of a transition, but we’re ready!

Charlie, like many five-year-olds, needs routine and structure. He does not do too well with change. To help make our mornings go a little smoother, I created a morning checklist for kids. This is going to really come into play for the beginning of the year because we all know coming off of summer break is hard.

Morning Routine Checklist

Of course, we’re at the point in our life when our boys are up long before they really need to be. That said, Charlie’s not exactly on top of doing what needs to be done when he wakes up early.

Some of the things that he needs to do before leaving for school in the morning:

  • get dressed
  • make bed
  • eat breakfast
  • brush teeth
  • pack lunch
  • pack or check backpack

These all seem simple enough to remember, right? That’s not exactly the case though with the little ones. Things like playing or running around naked seem to be farther up the list.

I’m laminating this (you all know I love our laminator) and posting it on the door with a magnet clip. I think the key is putting the checklist somewhere your kiddo can see it and be reminded of what they need to do before heading out the door.

Using Morning Routine checklist for kids

During some of our back-to-school shopping at Walmart, I made sure to pick up some great breakfast options. I grabbed Jimmy Dean® Pancakes and Sausage (who doesn’t love food on a stick?) and Jimmy Dean® Fully Cooked Links & Patties.

I love that both of these require very little from me and Charlie can just about make them himself in the microwave with some supervision.

Jimmy Dean breakfast options

Between running my business from home and just being mom, I am always running in five different directions. Being able to feed the kids a protein-packed breakfast, with little effort, is a big win for me! Having yummy breakfast options that the kids will actually eat is an easy way to get something done on the checklist!

I need something like this to keep my boy moving in the morning. He gets stuck on one task and it’s forever before we move onto the next task. Thanks for the free printable! [client]
