We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]
Rainy Day at Fun Warehouse

While we were on vacation in Surfside Beach, we (of course) had a rainy day. If it were just Tom and I, that would be a welcomed inside day of movies and naps. To anyone with little ones, it’s a small panic attack.
After our breakfast and some lounge time, we headed to Fun Warehouse. During the week, they don’t open until 12, which kind of bummed me out.
The first thing we decided to do was play in the soft play area and the inflatables.
Oh, and while the kiddos are playing, you can sit on the couches and make yourself comfy!
After a little bit of play in the soft play area, we went to check out Mini Rollerball bowling. We’ve bowled in leagues since before Charlie was born, but he doesn’t get to participate yet. This was perfect for him.
We told the machine he wanted bumpers, but they didn’t pop up like they were supposed to. Charlie didn’t seem to mind at all that his ball went in the gutter though. I was a bit irritated at the lack of bumpers and tried to help him do better. Once I realized he didn’t care, I remembered that’s all that really matters. Charlie was having fun.
And of course we played some arcade games. One thing I really liked is the the card system they have. You can load money onto a game card. You’ll swipe your card to play a game and it will tell you how much you have left. After you win tickets playing games, you can put them into a machine, swipe your card, and it will keep track of your tickets on your card. This seems like it would be awesome for the older kids. You can just load their card with X amount and let them know: when it’s gone, it’s gone.
We even ate some lunch while we were hanging out deciding what else we wanted to do at Fun Warehouse.
In total, we spent about $35 for around 2 hours of play and lunch. I think that was a great price and Charlie had a fantastic time. We were glad Owen was able to enjoy the jungle gym and the inflatables a bit too. They also have a roller skating rink and laser tag available, but we decided that wasn’t for us this trip.
If you’re in the Myrtle Beach area and are looking for something to do on a rainy day or just to get out of the sun for a bit, I highly recommend Fun Warehouse.
You can check them out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and their website.

Awww…It looks like the boys had am amazing time! This is certainly the perfect rainy day place to play! Looks like a lot of fun for kids of all ages. Heck, even I would want to bowl! Of course, I would just be showing my kids how to do it correctly, right? lol Definitely checking this place out the next spring when I’m there!

I like their card system for money and for tickets. Much neater.

I used to work at the Fun Warehouse, it’s a pretty decent place if you have the money for it. Now don’t get me wrong, the place can be pretty enjoyable, but it gets old fast. I’ve gone there plenty of times on my days off, so I’m experienced as both a customer, and a former employee of over a year. Here’s a pros and cons list of the place.
Pros
-pretty good food at a decent variety
-over 80 arcade games (could be more/less, that’s the number from when I worked there.)
-They are adding go-carts in the future
-Has something for most ages
-Has a bar with a pool table
-Management is helpful
Cons
-Not a lot to do for the money you will spend
– They have three activities: laser tag, skating, and inflatables. you can get all of these at once (with a game
card for $25, but that’s only worth it if you have a family of varying ages. To expand on this, only kids 10 and
under are allowed on inflatables, only kids 5 and over allowed for laser tag (most employees will not enforce
that rule despite it being a huge safety issue), and then only kids who know or are interested in skating will go
skate.
-It is VERY VERY busy on weekends, even worse during the summer
-It is always understaffed (I know this because I used to work there)
– This ties in with the last con, it will get very busy and then there wont be enough employees to compensate for all the customers. On average there would be 8 people on staff (including managers) on a weekend, then there would be well over 500 customers inside the buildings. A large majority will be doing all activities. What happens is all the activities will get blocked up, laser tag runs 10 minute games with a max of 30 playing at a time. Majority of those 500 will be playing laser tag. So what happens is people who just get in during the middle of the day when it’s busy, will have to wait anywhere between 30 minutes to SEVERAL HOURS to play maybe just ONE game of laser tag. The same will happen with everything else, the skate floor will be flooded with people, the inflatables will be full of kids going crazy hurting other kids, and the food court will be backed up on food orders.
IN OTHER WORDS, chances are you won’t get your moneys worth.
-Late nights are when the bullies come in.
-Almost every night there will be bullies there, I’ve dealt with it many times, night time is NOT the time to bring your kids. Fights will break out, kids will be bullied by the bullies, they will make a huge mess of the place, it’s just chaos at night.
-Arcade games are mostly boring
– There’s a few games that are fun, but the majority of them are boring and don’t get played a lot.
To wrap this up, yes it CAN be a fun place, but you have to have the money for it, and already know what you want out of it. Also, coming on weekends is a risky move, chances are you will not enjoy it. The risky part about coming during the week is that there might not be a lot of people, but that only applies if you want to play something like laser tag.
