Thanks to Great Clips for sponsoring this post, but my love for supporting teachers is all my own.

I can’t believe it’s already time to start Back to School shopping! For us, Charlie is starting pre-school this year. I’m honestly not sure if we have to do any back to school shopping for him or not yet, but I’m sure we’ll find out at our meeting next month.

Win your back to school List

I do remember shopping when I was younger and we had to have all the Lisa Frank supplies. Remember them? Then as we got into high school, we were required to have that really expensive calculator. You know which one I’m talking about. I remember my father used his Dremel tool to etch my name into the back. If you lost that thing, big trouble!

Parents have to spend a lot of money getting their kids all the gear they need (and some they just want) for back to school. Great Clips is giving you the chance to win your back to school checklist! To enter, just upload a picture of your school supplies list to the #GREATLIST contest for your chance to win your entire list! There’s a new winner every day and prizes are shipped right to your front door. For complete details, please visit the #GREATLIST contest page.

If you win, not only will you save money by receiving your back to school supplies for free, but you won’t have to drag the kids out to the crowds for back to school shopping!

Did you know that on average, teachers spend $1,000 out of their own pocket for school supplies and classroom resources? That makes our back to school lists look a little better, right?

Great Clips has already helped two teachers fulfill their lists and makeover a classroom:

GreatList Makeover classroom

Take a look at the video of the whole makeover. Which room would you want your child learning in?

Great Clips now has a Check-In app – This service lets you add your name to the waiting list at your local Great Clips salon. It’s not an appointment – what it does is let you add your name to the list before arriving at the salon to help save you time. I know that with little ones, that extra 5-10 minutes of wait time can make all the difference! From July 15, 2014 – September 5, 2014, with every download of the check-in app, Great Clips will make a donation to AdoptAClassroom.org (up to $20,000).

Did I mention that when you enter the #GREATLIST contest, you’ll receive a $2 coupon off the already low price of a Great Clips hair cut. How’s that for back to school savings?

While you’re out picking up your school supplies, if you’re able to grab a few extra, I know the teachers would appreciate the donation. And don’t forget: You can donate for free just by downloading the Check-In app from Great Clips!

Here’s a few ideas for back to school gifts for teachers:

Back to School Gifts for Teachers

Teacher Appreciation Travel Cup – Amber Nicole

Crayon Vase – The Kim Six Fix

School Supply Tower – Little Bit of Paint

Back to School Chalkboard Tote – A Night Owl

Don’t forget to go enter to win your back to school list shipped right to your house!

I used to LOVE school supply shopping when I was a kid.. but as a parent I can imagine it’s a little bit stressful trying to get every single thing on the list. Winning the contest would be awesome!

Getting new school supplies was my favorite part of the school year. I still go out and get school (blog) supplies 😉

Most of our supplies were actually at the school-we didn’t need to go out and buy them all back when I went to school. I do know that teachers end up spending their own money on supplies-it is just not right. This was a great idea on Great Clips part.

This is a great program. With all the cuts to education, if teachers want to do any sort of activities with the students, they either have to pay for it themselves or have the parents pay. Either way, it’s no bueno. This is a definite help for the situation.

That is a great program. Until I volunteered in my kids schools, I had no idea how many of the classroom supplies were purchased by the teachers.

This year is going by way too fast – I cannot believe that it’s back-to-school time! It’s crazy how much teachers have to spend out of pocket for supplies. It’s definitely not right.

I know that parents spend a lot of money for school items. We are thankful for stores who host awesome sales. It makes me sad that teachers have to spend money for some things they feel they need for their class because the school system does not have the funds.

I’ve never heard of this before but what a transformation. I find kids learn so much better in an environment that’s conducive to learning and that upgrade sure looks a heck of a lot better.

I did know teachers spend a bundle out of their pockets. My son’s teacher last year was always sending notes and e-mails home asking parents to bring in whatever they were running low on. I thought it was smart of her, parents like to help.
