Before I became better known as “Mom,” I had small purses that were just big enough for my wallet and phone. Now, that's not quite the case. If you're a new mom – I hate to break it to you, but you'll be carrying around a diaper bag long after diapers – you just call it a purse or bag. Like a Boy Scout, a mom needs to be prepared at all times. That means there are certain items that all moms should have in their bag (in addition to wallet and keys).
9 THINGS EVERY MOM NEEDS IN HER BAG
1. Sunglasses
Rough night? It's cool. Just throw the shades on and you're all set. Personally, I use them to hold up my hair. Why aren't hairbands cool anymore?
2. Gloss
It's amazing how much of a pick-me-up you get from a little lip gloss. You don't need a mirror or anything fancy, just throw it on and you're good to go.
3. Mini First Aid Kit
Kids are always needing a bandage for one thing or another. And then sometimes they don't really need them, but they think they do. Save yourself an argument and toss them a bandage and keep it moving.
4. Wipes
Thought those were just for butts? Wrong! We use wipes for pretty much everything these days, and I can never have enough. Wiping noses, wiping hands, wiping spills at lunch, wiping shoes because they're dirty and wiping sticky faces will become your new job.
5. Snacks
Whether it's you or the kid, someone is going to need a snack. We all know that hanger is a real thing. Keep snacks stocked and ready in your bag. Our new favorite go-to is Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks.
These delicious snacks (ready in pre-portioned bags) have 100% daily value of vitamin C and 25% daily value of vitamins A & D. We'll just call that a Mom-Win! They're made with real fruit and surrounded by creamy yogurt. Seriously, everyone in the whole family loves them. They offer a mess-free snacking solution that won't leave crumbs at the bottom of my bag. Learn more a get a great coupon here.
6. Pain Reliever
Kids may sometimes lead to a headache. Just toss it in the bag. You may even be a lifesaver to another mom. You're welcome.
7. Crayons
I cannot tell you the amount of places we've needed to pull out “Mom's crayons.” Whether you're at a restaurant that doesn't have them (but they all should) or sitting at the doctor's office, these are ridiculously handy. I'm sure you can scrounge up a piece of paper somewhere to doodle on. Receipts are totally an option!
8. Bottle of Water
Okay, this may weigh your bag down, but even those little kid bottles will suffice. Someone will need water. It may be to clean up a scrape or a quick hand wash, but you'll be glad you have it.
9. Smartphone
I feel like we all have smartphones now, but it still needs to be said. Bring your smartphone. They're great for directions, noting important info, keeping your calendar, snapping pics and entertaining kids on the fly.
Anything else that you need in your mom bag at all times?
