We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]

Thanks to BabyLit for providing us with books in exchange for this post. As always, all opinions are my own.
Our love of books around here is never-ending. Our collection of children’s books was extremely large before Charlie ever arrived. For our baby shower, everyone brought us books instead of cards (well, most brought cards too, actually).
Through the years now, we’ve collected most of the typical books for children. We were recently introduced to BabyLit! BabyLit books are the classics re-imagined for your little ones. The board books are sturdy, which is something we definitely look for with these boys. Owen isn’t ready for regular books yet, but he loves to bring books to Mommy and Daddy to read or just sit and look at books by himself.
Don Quixote contains everything you’d need to know if you were a knight! Each page spread includes English and Spanish. And because it’s Don Quixote, there’s a windmill!
I love that the BabyLit books are so bright and colorful! That’s exactly how books for kids should be, but with books like Sherlock Holmes, you’d think it would be a little difficult.
I’m pretty sure Sherlock Holmes is Charlie’s favorite of the 3 board books we received. It goes over sounds that things make. Like boots —> scrape and thunder —> rumbles.
There’s also a new line of BabyLit books based on Edgar Allan Poe’s writings. When you think about Edgar Allan Poe, you definitely don’t think about books for toddlers, but BabyLit has mastered the art of sneaking a little Poe into our book collection with the Edgar series!
We live in Maryland, so Edgar Allan Poe is in our lives quite often, whether you realize it or not! Our football mascot is a raven named Poe.
Our newest bedtime story is Edgar Gets Ready for Bed, based on “The Raven”. It’s a really sweet little book that as a mom of these crazy boys, can definitely relate to the struggle of getting the boys ready for bed. This one has a hardcover, but regular paper pages. Good for Charlie, bad for Owen.
I know BabyLit books will be added to our go-to list of baby shower or new baby gifts!
Thanks to BabyLit, one Mom’s Messy Miracles reader is going to add 2 books of their choice to their own reading collection!
Which two BabyLit books will you choose?

Hard to choose, but I think I’d go with ‘Edgar Gets Ready for Bed’ because the premise is so hilarious, and for the second, ‘Jabberwocky’, which should make an AWESOME board book.
