After the kids are in bed, Tom and I enjoy plopping down on the couch and watching an episode or two of a grown-up show. We have a few shows we'll throw on and watch the re-runs, but I love when we find a good show we can both get into and watch together.
A couple of weeks ago, Tom watched a couple of episodes of The Ranch on Netflix while I was at bowling one night. When I got home he told me he liked it, so… I made him rewatch from the beginning with me.
There are not that many sitcom type shows on anymore. I really like the feel of The Ranch. It makes me laugh and cry. Honestly, I could do without all of the cursing (so don't watch this one with the kids around), but if you can see through that, it's great. This Netflix Original has 20 episodes (Season 1 is broken into 2 parts) available right now and I've heard that Season 2 should be coming out in the Spring!
Stars Ashton Kutcher, Danny Masterson, Sam Elliott, and Debra Winger bring this comedy series together. Colt (Kutcher) returns home after a failed semi-pro football career to help run the family ranch with his older brother, Rooster (Masterson) and their father, Beau (Elliot). Maggie (Winger), Colt and Rooster's mom, runs the local bar.
In one episode, Rooster (Danny Masterson) makes Beer Pancakes because they were out of milk. Today, I'm sharing a yummy beer pancake recipe.
- 1¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp white sugar
- 2 Tbsp brown sugar
- ¾ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 cup beer
- In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
- Add the egg, beer, and melted butter.
- Using a whisk, stir just until blended (a few small lumps are fine).
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Coat pan with oil or cooking spray.
- Pour about ¼ cup of batter onto hot pan.
- When bubbles appear on top, flip and cook until lightly browned on both sides.
These pancakes come husband-approved! Of course, you can make a kid version with root beer.
As a member of the Netflix Stream Team, we receive a Netflix subscription and surprises in the mail. My love for Netflix is all my own.
