The Shirley Journey

Finding Joy in the Journey

Two Weeks in Ireland with Kids

We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]

Bedtime with Charlie can pretty much be a nightmare lately. He’s always looking for a reason to get up or saying that he’s scared (that’s new) so he wants someone to cuddle with him. We were sent two NightBuddies, one for each boy, and I know they’re going to love them!

NightBuddies are a plush night light that is made to comfort children during bedtime. What kiddo doesn’t like cuddling with something super soft to make them feel safe? They light up, but not the entire plush: just the eyes. The magical patented eye illumination creates a connection unlike any other plush!

Right now, there are 8 different NightBuddies to choose from: 4 vehicles and 4 sea life characters. Charlie will be getting Oliver the Orca and Owen, who loves anything that goes, will be getting WC Racecar.

Calm Nights with NightBuddies

I know that one of my favorite features of NightBuddies is that the light goes off after two minutes, allowing the battery to last up to two years. With this auto-off feature, kids can easily activate the light again until they drift off to a peaceful sleep. They are actually guaranteed to light up for a year. To replace after the year, you just cut open at seam, use a mini screwdriver and replace. Then just sew it back up. I know, you’re probably thinking why not just put velcro on the back, right? I really love that there is no velcro with a battery inside. It’s a safety thing with me and I think that’s what makes these a bit more magical.

Although these are aimed at children ages 3-10, I think Owen (not quite 14 months old) will love his! I trust him with it because of the fact that the battery is completely inaccessible to him. They are super soft and there’s no big bulky hard part in the middle like I have seen and felt with others.

The boys currently share a room, so at bedtime we have to be careful that whatever one has, doesn’t disturb the other. These are the perfect amount of light. Not too bright, but still enough to comfort.

The really awesome part about NightBuddies? They were created by a mom, Sally Connolly, and her family in 2004  to teach her children how to follow their dreams and enjoy the journey. Holding the patent since 2004, NightBuddies is the ‘original’ light up toy.
