Keeping your sanity, as a mother, on a regular basis can be hard enough. However, when your kid is sick, it can feel as though all hope for sanity is lost. Here are some tips for keeping your sanity with a sick kid at home.

Don’t expect the house to stay clean

Dealing with a sick kid at home means that you need to keep your focus where it belongs. Trying to keep the house clean is something that falls to the wayside. Don’t feel bad about it because there will always be tomorrow.

Get stocked up before

Easier said than done, but at least now you can learn your lesson. It’s much easier to deal with a sick kid at home when you already have everything you need. Am I right? I ALWAYS stock up on items right after we deal with a sickness in the house. Although it’s better to not have to run to the store during a sickness, at least I can be better prepared next time.

Along with the typical sick day stuff, we need TempTraq. TempTraq® is the only wearable Bluetooth® temperature monitor in the form of a soft, comfortable patch that continuously monitors body temperature for up to 24 hours. TempTraq safely delivers continuous temperature readings while providing convenient fever alerts to give parents peace of mind and their children the rest they need to get better. If you’ve had a sick little one, you know how much fun it is to take their temperature throughout the day. The kiddo can sleep, rest, and even play if they can without having to worry about mom trying to take their temperature, but I’m still able to monitor fevers.

Using TempTraq, I can use the free TempTraq app on my mobile device and keep track of their temperature. Seriously! How awesome is that?!?

Something else that really helps my sanity is that in addition to temperature, I can track when my child eats, drinks or takes medicine, right in the app.

TempTraq is currently available at Target, CVS and Walgreens stores nationwide as well as TempTraq.com. MSRP is $19.99. Buy TempTraq now

Have some good movies handy

When it comes to dealing with a sick kid at home, you need to keep them occupied somehow. One of the best ways to keep them occupied is to have movies on hand. Movies seem to be the one thing that keep my kids occupied when they aren’t feeling good. Hopefully this tip works for you too.

Don’t have too many expectations for your kids

When my kids are sick, I try not to expect them to want to do much. We pretty much lay low for the day. I don’t expect them to do want to do that much during their sickness.

Ideally, they can sleep, but if not- at least rest. If they are eating, drinking, and smiling a little, I am one happy mom.

Order in if you need to

Of course, taking your kiddo to a restaurant while they are sick is a disaster waiting to happen. I have ordered in plenty of times when my kids are sick. It’s not necessarily for them (they never eat when they’re sick). However, I’m always starving and need the energy to wait on my kids while they are sick. Plus, I never pass up a chance to skip cooking and the clean-up!

The bottom line is that your kid is sick. I think it’s most important for you to understand, mom, that you don’t have to be perfect. All your kiddo needs is your love, comfort, and affection while they are sick. Let the other stuff go, at least for today.
