We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]
Starting a New Morning Routine

Starting a new routine is definitely a challenge, especially if it’s a morning routine. My new morning routine is something I should have started a long time ago, but life got in the way and my personal goals got lost in the mix.
If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you know I’ve recently joined the gym. That was a huge step for me, just walking into a gym. I’m 30 years old and this is my first gym membership. I’ve always been scared to be the “fat girl” at the gym, but at some point it needs to not matter. The fact of the matter is that I need to do something about my weight and start making better choices.
My day starts when the alarm goes off at 5 AM. That sounds early, right? Well, it is. But… when I worked out of the house, I had to be at work at 5 AM, which meant I woke up at 4 AM. It was definitely a change to start, but it’s easier every day. I think the key is just getting up and out the door. If you allow yourself to think about how early it is or how much you don’t feel like going, you won’t.
I’ve been starting slow and walking a few miles a day at a pretty good speed on the treadmill. I’m certainly not running yet. I have tried a couple of other machines, I’m not quite ready to use them for more than a couple of minutes.
After about an hour at the gym, I’m able to head to the grocery store. If you have kids, you know how exciting going to the grocery store alone is!
Old habits are hard to break. One of my old habits is stopping for breakfast at a fast food joint. There are at least 7 of them between my house and the gym. It’s really difficult to not swing into one on the way home! I’m starting to make better choices all the way around though.
I recently tried Jimmy Dean Delights Frittatas. They are made with real ingredients like whole eggs, lean meat, and real vegetables. These are actually rather delicious! I absolutely love the Turkey Sausage & Veggies variety. They pack so much flavor into a few bites.
Although it may be hard to skip the drive-thru, I know that I have a delicious, wholesome breakfast option right at home for me in the freezer.
Of course, these Jimmy Dean Delights Frittatas – an excellent source of protein – go great with some fruit on a plate. If I need to eat on the run though, they’re perfect to take along in the car. All they need is two minutes in the microwave!

If I’m lucky, the kids are still sleeping when I get in. More often than not though, Charlie’s up and watching TV while Daddy and Owen are still snoozing. I’m able to eat breakfast and spend a little time with my big kid.
I have noticed I’m much more productive now as well. With my new morning routine, I’ve worked out, shopped if I need to, eaten breakfast, showered, and dressed for the day before 8 AM!

I am a happier mom when I get some time to focus and have quiet before the hustle of the kids morning routine, and the early wake up is worth it. I combine this with taking myВ morning supplements and do this as soon as I wake up. The water usually gives me a boost of energy and makes me less likely to want to head back to bed.
