We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]
Why You’ll Love The LEGO Batman Movie

This week we were invited to an early screening of The LEGO Batman Movie. It’s things as simple as this that make me a pretty cool mom these days. We dropped Owen with Mommom and had a night out with just Charlie.
We’ve seen The LEGO Movie at least 100 times since it was released. Honestly, I was a little leery about how much I would enjoy The LEGO Batman Movie because my expectations were so high.
Synopsis:
In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman (Will Arnett) – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s (Zach Galifianakis) hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
Well, it exceeded expectations! We all loved it and I want to share a few reasons I think you’ll love it!

The Music
If you like the idea of Batman singing, you’ll want to watch this. Batman sings his new theme song, “Who’s the Bat(Man)”. There are a few Batman songs throughout the film, but I really enjoyed the 80’s songs like “(I Just) Died in Your Arms” and “Man in the Mirror”.
The Cameos
If you’re as geeky as we are, you’ll absolutely love all of the cameos! From old school villains to current characters from other movies, there are a ton in The LEGO Batman Movie! There are some for everyone, from Voldemort to Gremlins.
The Action
While The LEGO Movie had some action throughout the story, The LEGO Batman Movie is truly an action flick. As Charlie puts it, “there are so many more battles”.
The action is pretty much non-stop, but there are some moments that come out a little like a love story between Batman and Joker.
The Silliness
There are a ton of jokes. Of course, it’s a “kid movie” so there is going to be some silliness, but not all of the jokes are for the kids. In our theater, I’d say the adults were laughing just as much – if not more – than the kids.
There are nods to every other Batman throughout the years in a way that only the adults would get. But… for the kids? Batman’s crazy closet!
This is one I know we’ll watch over and over again (with the kids or without)! I can’t wait for it to be released, so we can own it and enjoy at home! For now, enjoy it in theaters!
