We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]

Mom life is hard. I’m sure we can all agree on that. I hear a lot of people, myself included, make plans for later – when things settle down. The thing is though, they’re not really ever going to settle down, there will just be new things that keep us crazy busy. We need to create and possibly demand time for ourselves now. Every mom needs time to refresh and recharge. Hopefully these tips will help you feel refreshed and recharged with AVEENO® from Walmart.
1. GET UP EARLIER
I know it sounds a little backwards to feel more recharged and renewed by getting up earlier, but it’s true. I try to wake up at least an hour before the kids. I use this time to start my day the way I want. For me, that usually means hitting the gym. I’ve also been known to just curl up in my chair in the living room and enjoy the quiet. Make sure your bedtime reflects your need to get up earlier because getting enough sleep is always important.
2. UTILIZE SIBLING TIME
When the boys are playing nicely together, that’s my chance to enjoy some me-time.

Yes, his room is a hot mess, but… they’re playing nicely together. Walk away!
While my instinct is to use that time to get housework, blog work, or my own homework done, it’s much healthier for me to use it on myself. Grab a book or enjoy a hobby like scrapbooking or crocheting. There will always be more housework, but mom needs to spend some time recharging, too.
3. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME
In today’s world, it’s so easy to sit down and spend an hour scrolling through facebook or zoning out in front of the TV. When you’re able to find a little alone time, don’t waste it. Everyone knows what their time-suck activities are, so you’ll want to avoid those things. The goal is to actually feel refreshed after some alone time.
4. FEEL LIKE A WOMAN
If you’re needing some time to feel like a girl again, and not like a mombie, give yourself some girl time. This could mean actually hanging out with other women or just doing girly things alone.
I’ve been working on putting myself first again and spending a little time doing girly things that I used to enjoy pre-kids. You can get a haircut, put some makeup on, give yourself a mani or pedi, or even just enjoy 10 minutes in the shower.
I just picked up some new items for my alone time in the shower! I grabbed AVEENO PURE RENEWAL® Shampoo and Conditioner and AVEENO® POSITIVELY RADIANT® 60 SECOND IN-SHOWER FACIAL at Walmart.
Not only does a shower help renew Mom’s spirit, but with AVEENO PURE RENEWAL® Shampoo and Conditioner, Mom’s hair is renewed to its most balanced state with each wash. AVEENO PURE RENEWAL® Hair Shampoo and Conditioner sulfate-free formulas help to rebalance hair’s optimal moisture to leave it feeling shiny, healthier looking, and more full of life.
That’s pretty much what I’m looking for after I take a shower – to feel more full of life.
I honestly can’t remember the last time I had a facial in a fancy salon. Thanks to AVEENO® POSITIVELY RADIANT® 60 SECOND IN-SHOWER FACIAL, I can get that feeling while sneaking away for a quick shower. It uses the steam of the shower to deeply but gently exfoliate dirt, oil and dead skin. Moms are now able to indulge in a positively terrific experience with the new 60 Second In-Shower Facial and transform dull, tired-looking skin (all moms have that, right?) to brighter, more naturally radiant and velvety soft skin in just 1 minute!
Taking a shower and enjoying alone time always helps me feel refreshed and recharged to continue my day as Mom.
5. SCHEDULE IT
You may feel guilty just taking time for yourself and randomly running out of the house to get away. First of all, don’t! Moms need time to recharge to be their best selves and what their family really needs.
Put whatever you need on the calendar and get it done! Let it be known that that’s your special time and how much you need it.
6. LOCK THE DOOR
Sometimes when I’m taking a bath or enjoying that shower, I’ll lock the door. If Dad is home, I’ll let him know that I’m heading to my office or our bedroom and I’ll be locking the door.
Locking the door is key. You need uninterrupted time. Without the door locked, kids just come right in and you’re dragged into whatever it is that could have been handled without you or could have waited 15 minutes. Yes, sometimes all it takes is 10 to 15 minutes to feel refreshed and recharged.
7. SET A TIME TO CLOCK OUT
As a mom, our work is never really done. After the kids have gone to bed, there’s always something more that can be done. Set a time that you “clock out” for the day. Between your “clock out” time and your bedtime, use that time to reconnect with your spouse or another way to recharge.
8. USE OUTSIDE HELP
You know when people offer to watch the kids? Take them up on it! We’re awful about asking people to watch the boys, but I’m making it a mission this year to actually use help! This could be grandma, another mom (think trade!), or a babysitter. Better yet, don’t waste your outside help time for late in the evening when the kids are probably sleeping half the time anyway. Get out during the time they’re awake and then extend your time once they’re sleeping.
The days are long, but the years are short. Give your kids the happy mom that’s refreshed and recharged. Take time for yourself and the entire family will feel the effects.
