We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]

This Cranberry Orange Rum Spritzer brings a bit of summer to the table, no matter what season it is! When you combine some of my favorite flavors with Don Q’s delicious Gran Añejo Puerto Rican rum.
Sipping on this cocktail gives me that summer feeling and makes me imagine I’m on a beach somewhere. My kids may or may not be there…
Speaking of beaches, Puerto Rico is known throughout the world for its excellent rum! The noble tradition of producing the most refined and exquisite rums is an art that has been cultivated since 1865 by Destilería Serrallés, the birthplace of Puerto Rican rum.
Destilería Serrallés is one of America’s oldest family-owned businesses with a rum making tradition that that started in 1865. Destilería Serrallés is based in Ponce, Puerto Rico where it produces its flagship product, the award-winning Don Q rum, the #1 selling rum on the island.
I love that Destilería Serrallés is one of the most environmentally responsible in the spirits industry. They’re able to reap the benefits of real energy return, as well as a water reclamation program which allows them to recycle the wastewater, instead of just dumping it in the ocean.
The Don Q rum that we used in our Cranberry Orange Rum Spritzer is Gran Añejo, a super-premium rum first aged in American white oak barrels, and then carefully aged in Spanish sherry casks using the Solera aging system. In the Gran Anejo, you’ll taste molasses, cigar tobacco, and dark caramel. This rum is delightfully smooth and lush with pronounced notes of vanilla, cinnamon and honey.
Our Cranberry Orange Rum Spritzer is perfect for a mom’s night in, sitting around the backyard with a bonfire, or a holiday party. We always end up at a few holiday parties throughout the season.
This year, I’d love to host something at our own home. I’m pretty sure our family and friends would go for this fun cocktail! Personally, I think a spritzer is perfect for a New Year’s Party!
If your parties are family-friendly, like most of ours these days, you can make some kiddie versions of these and leave out the rum. Or maybe you have friends that always seem to be pregnant during the holidays? Make a virgin one of these for the preggo lady, too.
Since I have no new babies in the future for me, I’ll be partaking in the grown-up version of our Cranberry Orange Rum Spritzer!
If the beachy mixed drink isn’t your thing, you could just sip on your Don Q Gran Añejo neat, on the rocks, or you can substitute it for whiskey in Old Fashioned cocktails.
Gran Añejo rum pairs great with steaks, lamb, prime rib, or any grilled meats.
