We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]
Easily Turn Family Photos into a Book

How many pictures do you have stored on your computer, phone, or facebook? And how many of those pictures do you have printed out? We live in a time where families have more pictures stored on memory cards than in photo books and I know we’re guilty of that in our house.
I took about 500 photos while we were on our vacation this year at Beaches Turks & Caicos. It was such an amazing experience and I’d say a once in a lifetime trip for us, but I absolutely believe we’ll be going again. Anyway, I wanted to get those photos off my computer and into something we can actually share with family and friends in person and look at ourselves to relive the fun.
So of course, when Shutterfly asked if I wanted to try out the new Make My Book service, I knew exactly what I would put in our book! You can see the whole thing in the slideshow below.

You’re probably thinking that took quite awhile for me to put together, right? Wrong. With Shutterfly’s new Make My Book feature, I uploaded all of my pictures and selected them to be in my book. I didn’t bother to delete the blurry ones or the ones that were duplicate pictures. The designer will select the best pictures from similar shots and obviously ignore the blurry or grainy ones.
The Make My Book set-up will walk you through everything and then you can leave a note for the Shutterfly designer that will be working on your book. They’ll be re-sizing pictures and picking layouts that work for what you added and what you want.
A few days after you submit your options for you book, you’ll receive it for your review. At this point, you can edit things if you need to. The service is just $9.99, but you pay nothing until you order your book. To me, totally worth it for all the time it saved me and I actually have a printed book now that we can share with family!
There’s nothing quite like sitting on someone’s lap telling them all about your trip! It certainly beats scrolling through pictures on the computer or your phone.
Our book turned out absolutely beautiful and I’m so proud to show it off!
When was the last time you ordered a printed photo book? What are you waiting for?

I love Shutterfly books! I haven’t made one in a while. I really need to get back into taking pictures so I can make a new book for the grandparents.
