We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]
Fall Family Getaway to Woodloch Resort

A couple of weeks ago, we ran away to the Poconos for a few days. Woodloch Resort was kind enough to host my family for a perfect fall getaway.
This is not your typical hotel stay. Woodloch Resort is an all-inclusive resort that reminds me of “Kellerman Resort” in Dirty Dancing. Sounds dreamy, right? It is… oh, it is!
Our Room
Our room at Woodloch Resort was actually a suite in Springbrook and it was amazing! It’s exactly what we need when traveling with the kids.
It allows separate space because of the divided living room and sleeping area. We were able to put the boys to bed and stay up in the living room. I wanted to bring that mattress home with us (it’s that amazing) and I overheard someone at checkout talking about the same thing!
Our suite included two bathrooms (perfect for life with two little ones) and two TVs.
You can see our room tour in our Facebook Live video below.
The Food
We arrived on Saturday just in time for lunch! When staying at Woodloch Resort, you have a few dining options when you book your stay. There is a 2-meal plan, a 3-meal plan, or you could choose to have none of your meals included and eat a la carte.

This was the only table between us and the window. Such a beautiful view while dining!
We received the 3-meal plan for our stay and it worked out great. I was a little leery about breakfast not starting until 8:30am, but the boys did great. We started our mornings out with a little playtime on one of the many playgrounds on campus and then made our way to breakfast when the doors opened.
What I really love about the dining at Woodloch is that your family is at the same table, with the same waitress (except maybe on their off days) the whole time. Woodloch Resort really tries to make it feel like home, even when you’re not at home. Meals are served family-style, meaning that baked goods, salads, side dishes, and some entrees are served in platters meant to be passed, just like you would at home.
Don’t worry about the kids! They won’t go hungry at all because there are so many delicious options for them either on the kids menu or the regular menu. Oh, and the menu is different each day, so you don’t have the same choices all the time. There was even a buffet one night!
And the dessert! I loved the Mud Pie and maybe asked if there was more another night when it wasn’t on the menu. And to my delight, my waitress was able to bring me one!
There are characters at every meal! Owen absolutely loves characters, but Charlie would rather look at them from several feet away.

I think Owen was trying to get Charlie closer to Marshall!
Activities
Wow! The activities…. where do I start?
Each morning at breakfast, you’ll have a schedule on your table of all of the day’s activities and any extra information you may need. You can also find this on the App or on the Woodloch Edge activities site. No matter your age or what you enjoy, you’ll find something on the activities list you’ll want to do!
Since we visited a few days after Halloween, the boys were able to take part in trick-or-treating around Woodloch. Even though we didn’t pack our costumes (like many did), the boys still loved parading around to get treats from Woodloch staff dressed as some of their favorite characters.
One of the boys’ favorite amenities at Woodloch is Woodloch Forest! Honestly, the boys could have played here all day, every day. We stopped in a few times and let them get some of their crazy energy out. This place is a gigantic play gym filled with tunnels, slides, and lots of surprises!
There’s even a play area for the littlest ones at Woodloch Forest.
Throughout the resort, there are several other things open for family fun. We enjoyed Go-Carts, Bumper Cars, Paddle Boats, and Mini Golf. On the daily schedule, you’ll find the operating times of these amenities.
The boys are too little for the batting cages, but I felt great hitting some balls for the first time in close to a decade.
Our room was just about a 30-second walk from the indoor pool complex. We went after dinner on Sunday night and we were the first (and only) people there all evening. The boys loved the splash area with all of the woodland animals.
Tom and I checked out the new indoor waterslide and splash pad. The boys are too little to slide still, but we enjoyed it!

Not a pretty picture, but I had a blast! And… no line!
There was a petting zoo set-up one of the days we were there. Of course, the boys loved this and the pony rides that were offered!
I can’t wait until the boys are a bit older or we go with more family to do the Family Olympics and Scavenger Hunt. Those activities are no joke, but our kids are too young for them right now.

Here is the schedule for one of the days we were at Woodloch Resort.
For our little kids, there are activities just for them with Boomer’s Kids Club! On the schedule, those activities will have a little bear cub pictured next to them. Tom took Charlie to play games while Owen was napping one day and then we all went to play BINGO another day.
The boys earned some Gold Medals at BINGO. Medals are a big deal at Woodloch and I think it’s super cool. In the gift shop, I even saw a neat piece of wall art to hang your Woodloch medals. I love all of the family-friendly competition. Tom and I even managed to win ourselves some silver medals in a ladderball competition before heading home!
More Info
Tom and I got a babysitter one evening and it was so worth it! I booked right through the reception desk and the babysitter came right to our door and sat with the boys while they spent most of the time sleeping. We paid the sitter directly, $10.00 per hour for one child, plus $1.00 per hour for each additional child, up to, and not to exceed, 5 children per babysitter (check the prices when you make your reservation).
Tom and I used our time away to see the theme show in the nightclub. We had a few drinks (not included) and really enjoyed our kid-free night out!
Honestly, there is no way I could tell you everything about Woodloch Resort. Plus, what was offered while we were there won’t be the exact same for you. The schedule is always changing! You need to see it and experience it for yourself! I know I didn’t take nearly enough pictures of everything I want to show you, but I had a great time with my family while being mostly unplugged in this absolutely beautiful environment.

You definitely sold me on this place. when I was a teenager we lived about an hour from the Poconos and we would take drives there to see all the beautiful scenery.
