We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]

There are plenty of times since becoming a Mom that I could have broken down. I’m sure most moms could agree.
Shortly after Charlie’s birth, we found out he had a Congenital Heart Defect that would require surgery to repair. Trust me, I broke down into tears immediately, but didn’t let it break me. I had a million questions and wanted answers.
As you can tell, Charlie’s all fixed-up now, but he’ll be going to cardiologist visits for the rest of his life. And… that means that I’ll be holding my breath during every echo-cardiogram until I’m told we’re in the clear for that visit.
While pregnant with Owen, I experienced what is called a heterotopic pregnancy. That’s when there is a pregnancy in the uterus and another in the fallopian tube. After emergency surgery to save my own life, thus risking that of the intrauterine pregnancy, I still was unbreakable. Finding out you were supposed to have twins is definitely Earth-shattering, but you have to be strong and carry on for the kiddo at home and the one you are still carrying.
We’ve all had things in life that could break us. I think it’s up to us to decide what breaks us. Even after all the crazy things we’ve been dealt as parents, I’m Unbreakable!
This week, Netflix released a new show called Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Kimmy Schmidt has gone through a crazy ordeal in her life (umm…. have you been help captive by a doomsday cult?), but she not going to let anything break her. Tina Fey is one of the producers, so of course, it’s hilarious. I definitely binge watched the first 6 episodes and can’t wait to finish up the 13 that are currently available. I’m sure they’ll be coming out with more. It’s that good. Oh, and the theme song is great and I totally rock out!
What have you experienced that could have broken you, but didn’t?
