We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]

Charlie is starting Kindergarten this year and we’re all super excited. Okay, I’m going to bawl my eyes out when he leaves, but still excited. Last year, Charlie went to Pre-K at our public school. It was a good transition for him as he rode the bus with the big kids in the morning, but only stayed until lunch time. We have a large bin of things we saved from Pre-K last year. Of course, this year, he’ll come home with even more things from school since he’ll be there all day.
In preparation of the new school year ahead, I’ve finally gotten organized for all of the school stuff that will find it’s way home. And lucky for you, I’m sharing our printables with you for free!
To start, go grab a file box to keep everything in. I picked ours up at Walmart while I was purchasing a new printer. I went with the new HP Deskjet 3636 because I needed something that can do it all, without taking up a ton of space. Our printer gets a lot of use between printing pictures, craft projects, and fun activities for the boys.
I’m able to quickly print, scan, and copy—right out of the box! Like our other printer, this one also has HP Printables available and I love them! I have some of our favorites set up to print on a schedule. The boys love their coloring pages and activities that print automatically! Did you notice the cool purple accent color? You can find the HP Deskjet 3636 in three fun colors – Vibrant Red, Dragonfly Blue, Sporty Purple.
When setting up your School Memory box, the key is only keeping what really matters. Whether you toss everything in and go through it at the end of the year, every marking period, or at the end of every month, just make sure you’re not keeping everything!
My mom is moving out of her house after 15 years in the same place. That means I’ve been spending some time there going through a ton of my old things. What adult doesn’t still have things at their parents? Well, doing this last weekend only drove home how important it is to me to do this School Memory Box for my kids. I found so many papers I had written in middle school mixed in random boxes with letters, yearbooks, and awards. If I had a box system like this when I was in school, it would all be in one place and sorted for me.
I have even included labels that you can use to keep your file folders easily organized and identifiable. You can print these out on file folder label stickers or just print them on regular paper, cut them, and glue them on.
Honestly, I would go ahead and print everything out right now and set up the entire file box before you even think you need it. You’re able to print twice as many pages with Original HP high-yield ink cartridges, making it super affordable for high-quality printing! I also think it would make a great baby shower or first birthday gift! What mom wouldn’t like something like this all set-up and ready to go?

About My First & Last Day of School
You can use the First Day of School Signs as a cover for each year’s file folder. Just glue it to the front after you’ve snapped your picture of the day!
Speaking of that first day of school picture, you can easily print it out (even using your mobile device) on the new HP DeskJet 3636. It prints so quick and crisp! Be sure to add your first and last day pictures to the About My Day Pages. Not having to order pictures online and then pick them up from the store is a big win for me. That means they’ll actually get printed and added instead of just an “I’ll get to it” type of thing.
I hope these printables take the stress out of organizing all the things your kids will come home with this year!

That is a very cute idea! We sort through my son’s school papers in the summer and I just have them in a paper file box, but they’re just laying in there with a piece of construction paper separating the years. I really like your idea much better. Thanks for sharing.
