We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]

I’ve always loved amusement parks and now that we have the boys, it’s a whole new kind of love. We visit several amusement parks throughout the year, with most of our trips being over the summer.
We have quite a bit of experience visiting amusement parks with our little kids, so I wanted to share a few tips with you that may be considering your first visit!
What to Pack for the Amusement Park when bringing little kids
Stroller – Our boys are 3 ½ and 6 and we still bring a stroller. Even if no one rides in it for 75% of the time, it’s nice to have the cup holders of the stroller and a place to drop things without lugging them around by hand all day. And… at the end of the day, you can stay a little longer when someone can’t hang anymore.
Sunscreen – Apply before you head in and then remember to reapply as needed!
Extra Clothes – Honestly, bring extra clothes for everyone, but the kids especially. Between eating and playing, someone is bound to need them. With little ones, accidents are always a possibility, too. Pack a sweatshirt too, just in case it’s chillier in the evening.
Swimsuits – Most of the amusement parks offer water attractions during the summer months. Don’t forget the suits!
Wipes – Even if you’re past the diaper stage, bring the wipes! They’re perfect for wiping hands, faces, and even ice cream drips on clothes and legs! Sometimes a regular napkin just doesn’t cut it.
Small wallet – I typically carry a giant bag big enough for all the things this mommy needs to carry. And I have a huge wallet that’s stuffed with cards, receipts, my checkbook, and numerous other things. Grab a small wallet to take into the park with your ID and a card.
Travel First Aid Kit – I think all amusement parks have first aid centers now, but I still like having my own bandages ready when we need them.
Cell phone – This one is pretty much assumed, but I’m including it anyway. Not only do I use my phone to capture memories at an amusement park, but thanks to modern technology, they are super handy for other things!
Most amusement parks these days have at least one app you can download. Some of the things you can access on mobile apps are your season passes, special offers, ride wait times, and park maps.
Tom and I use our phones to check-in with each other if we split up and find out where we’re meeting back up.
Of course, having cell phones with us also means we can easily share our day with our friends and family that weren’t lucky enough to join us!
Between using the app, sharing pictures, and using facebook live throughout the day, we use a chunk of data. We’re not worried about that though because we’re on the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS Plan, powered by T-Mobile. For just $49.88 a month, we receive Unlimited Talk, Text, & Data which includes up to 13GB of 4G LTE† then 2G* plus a free VUDU◊ movie credit every month ($7 value) per line!
After a busy day at the park, we need a chill day at home the next day! It’s a great way to use that free VUDU◊ movie credit I earn each month when my PLUS Plan renews! We use VUDU◊ all the time on our Roku to watch the newest movies.
I just picked up a new phone at Walmart last week to capture all of our summer fun! Walmart Family Mobile has Walmart’s best pricing in no-contract wireless plans. I grabbed the new LG Grace at my local Walmart store for just $94. (Disclaimer: All prices for phones and plans included in this post are accurate as of the date of posting; however, these prices are subject to change. Please refer to this page or your local Walmart for current pricing.)
If you’re not quite ready to buy a new phone yet, you can even bring your own and switch to WFM. What’s great about Walmart Family Mobile is how quick and easy it is to get started! There are no activation fee, no late fees, and no contract!
Having the $49.88 PLUS Plan from Walmart Family Mobile, powered by T-Mobile, is a big win for us! Being able to save money on our mobile phone plan means that we get to splurge a little when we do fun things this summer, like grabbing ice cream or picking up an extra souvenir at the amusement park!
Rechargeable Battery Pack – I love being able to take lots of photos and video clips throughout the day when we’re at an amusement park. I always pack a battery pack to charge my phone in case it needs a little juice during the day.
Disposable Ponchos – You never know when the sky is going to open up and let it rain for a bit. I stash a few of those cheap ponchos in our bag
Refillable Water bottle – A lot of parks have water fountains throughout the park. You can bring a refillable water bottle (use those cup holders on that stroller) and keep hydrated. Also note that most amusement parks will give you a free cup of water at the food stands upon request.
Small Plastic Resealable Bags – These can definitely be a lifesaver at an amusement park! You can use them to keep your cell phone dry, store leftovers from lunch that the kids will snack on in a bit, hold the wet clothes after water parks, and so many other things!
Click here to print our Amusement Park Checklist and be sure to take advantage of all that extra data this summer! If you have anything else you always bring with you to the amusement park, I’d love to hear it – leave me a comment below!

I was so glad I had kept our stroller – it came in so useful for my 5 year old twins on a trip to an amusement park. Great tips for how to make the use of data while at the park, too! #client

It’s pretty much the only reason we have our stroller now! All those amusement park trips! So much easier to lug stuff around, even if the kids barely use it!
