This past year, I have really gotten into the groove of exercising. Honestly, I’d rather exercise and play outside with the family in the cooler months when it’s not so brutal out there. Some people may find it harder to get out though as the weather starts get a bit nippy. Since exercise is already a part of my normal routine, I don’t want to stop. For those of us who want to continue or even start exercising this fall, these tips are for you! And bring the whole family along! It’s easier to get exercise in when you’re having fun with the family.
Something I really love about fall is the ability to exercise outside without getting too warm or cold. If it’s cold, you can layer and un-layer as needed. Walking trails is a brilliant idea for exercising during the fall months. You can walk for as little or as long as you’d like! Of course, it’s a fun way to exercise, so you will want to do it often.
Harvest Fall Crops
There are so many fun activities for families in the fall. Many of them take place at farms! You can pick apples at the orchard or wander around a huge pumpkin patch to find the best pumpkin! Make a day of it and enjoy the hayrides, corn mazes, and petting zoos at the local farm.
Complete Fall yard work
Another way to get that exercise in for fall is to go outside and get your yard work done. Raking or leaf blowing, trimming back plants and bushes, putting away yard ornaments, and so on. This is such a great way to burn calories and meet your exercise goals. The kids will love helping you rake leaves and then everyone can jump in the leaf pile. You know you want to do it with them, so just go for it!
Play games with the family
Outside games like football and soccer are perfect for getting exercise in. We like to have a game of family friendly football or soccer. Sweating in the fall is fun because it’s not so hot and you can exercise and burn those calories.
Take neighborhood walks or bike rides
There is still plenty of time to get that exercise in this fall. Walk the neighborhood with your family. Admire the fall decorations and the changing leaf colors. Bike rides are still a great idea, a bit cold, but you’ll warm up before you know it.
We’re working on living a healthier lifestyle as a family. Kids learn what they see and we’re trying to set a better example for our little ones. In addition to getting our exercise in as a family, we’re making sure we’re all taking our vitamins! I picked up vitamins for everyone at Target: Nature Made® Kids First® Vitamin C for the boys, Nature Made® Multi for Her + Omega-3 Adult Gummies for myself, and Nature Made® Multi for Him + Omega-3 Adult Gummies for Tom.
Nature Made® Kids First® Gummies are for children 4 years old and up. They’re an easy way to get the kids started on taking supplements because they have great tasting natural flavors!
Nature Made had the 1st gummies verified by USP for purity and potency*. (*Find those Nature Made USP verified gummies on NatureMade.com/USP)
Nature Made Multi for Her Plus Omega-3 Gummies and Nature Made Multi for Him Plus Omega-3 Gummies are an excellent source of vitamins A, C, D3, and E, as well as key B vitamins (folic acid, biotin, niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12), and important minerals such as chromium and zinc. B vitamins support cellular energy production†, while Vitamins A, C, and D as well as zinc help support the immune system†.
Do you have plans of exercising this fall while getting family time in? I’d love to hear your tips and how you stay active as the weather gets a little chillier.
