This past year, I have really gotten into the groove of exercising. Honestly, I’d rather exercise and play outside with the family in the cooler months when it’s not so brutal out there. Some people may find it harder to get out though as the weather starts get a bit nippy. Since exercise is already a part of my normal routine, I don’t want to stop. For those of us who want to continue or even start exercising this fall, these tips are for you! And bring the whole family along! It’s easier to get exercise in when you’re having fun with the family.
Walk trails
Something I really love about fall is the ability to exercise outside without getting too warm or cold. If it’s cold, you can layer and un-layer as needed. Walking trails is a brilliant idea for exercising during the fall months. You can walk for as little or as long as you’d like! Of course, it’s a fun way to exercise, so you will want to do it often.
Harvest Fall Crops
There are so many fun activities for families in the fall. Many of them take place at farms! You can pick apples at the orchard or wander around a huge pumpkin patch to find the best pumpkin! Make a day of it and enjoy the hayrides, corn mazes, and petting zoos at the local farm.
Complete Fall yard work
Another way to get that exercise in for fall is to go outside and get your yard work done. Raking or leaf blowing, trimming back plants and bushes, putting away yard ornaments, and so on. This is such a great way to burn calories and meet your exercise goals. The kids will love helping you rake leaves and then everyone can jump in the leaf pile. You know you want to do it with them, so just go for it!
Play games with the family
Outside games like football and soccer are perfect for getting exercise in. We like to have a game of family friendly football or soccer. Sweating in the fall is fun because it’s not so hot and you can exercise and burn those calories.
Take neighborhood walks or bike rides
There is still plenty of time to get that exercise in this fall. Walk the neighborhood with your family. Admire the fall decorations and the changing leaf colors. Bike rides are still a great idea, a bit cold, but you’ll warm up before you know it.
