We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]
Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day is truly about remembering those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Thanks to them, we’re able to have that long weekend filled with the cookouts and parties that many think is the real celebration.
In honor of Memorial Day, here’s a picture of my grandfather (my father’s side) from WWII in the Philippines.
On Sunday we went to my in-laws’ for a bit and hung out at their beach. It’s nice and quiet, my favorite kind of beach!
On Monday, we went to the parade in the morning. As you know, we love parades!
Later Monday afternoon, we went back to the beach for a bit more of a kick-off to summer cookout. I was selected for a House Party Chinet It’s Hip to Be Square Party, so we brought along our Chinet goodies to the party. Here’s a couple showing off the Chinet supplies!
The plates held up well, look pretty, and we love that you can feel better about using disposables with these. However, it was noted that they say they are Kosher, but there’s a picture of shrimp on the packaging?
This is my father-in-law with Owen on Sunday. Owen was great at the beach, he just wanted to be held, per usual. And Big Charlie (they’re all named Charlie if you didn’t know that) isn’t actually scowling, it just kind of looks that way.
And Owen had his feet in the water (Chesapeake Bay) for the first time. The pictures are kind of blurry because Daddy was rather far away when I did it.
We had a great weekend and we stayed somewhat unplugged compared to usual. It was really nice.

Looks like you guys had a good Memorial Day! I wish they did a fun parade here (none that I know of anyway). Great pic of your grandfather too!
