Munchkin’s LATCH Bottles for Breastfed Babies

I received free products as part of my Ambassadorship with Munchkin.

Owen is strictly breastfed, so when I found out we were receiving the new Munchkin LATCH bottle for May’s shipment, I was a little bummed. In Owen’s 8 months, he’s had maybe 20 bottles. Maybe. It was really hard for me to be able to test this since I can’t actually be the one to use it. I mean, why get it from the bottle, when the tap is right there?

When I went to the Disney on the Road event a couple weeks ago, I had to pump quite a bit to make sure Owen would be good to go while I was gone.

The babysitter found the LATCH bottle to work great and said that Owen seemed to take to it just fine. Apparently he fell into such a nice sleep that she was able to put him down. Mind you, this baby does not take naps during the day unless he’s attached to mom. I think that says a lot for the breast-like qualities of the bottle.

If you’ve ever breastfed, or watched someone breastfeed, you know how much pulling and tugging babies do to mom’s breasts. The accordion style nipple on the LATCH bottle is made for just this. It allows baby to get the proper latch on the bottle and it makes sure that the latch is maintained when baby moves around. We all know how much they like to move around, even while nursing!

The little valve at the bottom of the inside helps by preventing air bubbles from traveling through the breast milk, reducing gas and fussiness.

The nipples are available in three different stages, the first of which comes with your bottle. You want to make sure the flow of the bottle matches that of mom, to make the transition as easy as possible.

If you are a breastfeeding mom who will be needing bottles, these are definitely worth a try!

You can connect with munchkin on Facebook, Twitter, or their website to learn more about the LATCH bottles and other products.

My son nursed for over two years. When he was 3 months old, I went back to work and it was so nerve-wracking trying to find the perfect bottle for him. Luckily, he took one like a champ and I was able to continue breastfeeding! (These bottles look great, by the way!)

This is a great bottle. I needed this for my first child, but I didn’t know they even existed.

I think this is a great alternative for those that may need it. It would’ve been hard for me to leave mine while breastfeeding, as well.

These look fun! I have been through so many different types of bottles with my three children and thank goodness I never dealt with colic. I like the valve on the bottom. I wonder how difficult it is to clean.

The little valve pops out and is nice and easy to clean. If you put it in the dishwasher though, it ends up with a bunch of stuff stuck in it and then you have to wash it out. So, don’t bother with the valve in the dishwasher.

Munchkin was one of my favorite brands when my girls were babies. It’s nice to see that they are still creating innovative products for baby!

I never gave mine a bottle because I didn’t want them to decide they liked it better LOL. But this is great for those moms who do need to use bottles while breastfeeding.

This is great. I stopped breastfeeding my daughter at 3 1/2 and she would not take any bottles. I would’ve tried this one in a heartbeat. It’s hard to be available for nursing at all times and sometimes I really needed to give her a bottle when she was an infant.

That is a pretty neat design. I haven’t had to breastfeed in a while, but I would look at this if I still had kids in that stage.

I would not suggest putting the valve in the dishwasher, but it’s simple enough to wash out.

Wow, I wish I would have seen these last year. My little guy has Down Syndrome and has been doing therapy to teach him how to eat and take sippy cups or bottles (well, not bottles anymore) and he just could not “get it”. His tongue wouldn’t go in the right spot. I didn’t try this one though.
