We took a trip to Ireland last year, but it was just us. We knew immediately the kids would love it, so this time we brought the kids to Ireland! Day 1 We left the house Monday, August 14th about noon and arrived at Newark International Airport at about 2:30, breezed through security, and sat […]

Who is ready for Finding Dory today? I saw something this week that said something about how people should keep the kids out of the theater and let us parents see it first! I had a good laugh over that because it’s true, I’m much more interested in this release than my 5 and 2 year old. I know they’ll love it, but it’s a little extra special to those of us that remember when Finding Nemo was released.
In honor of the Disney PIXAR’s Finding Dory release, we put together these super simple, yet super cute, Ocean Cupcakes in a Jar.
I bought the blue cupcake mix and blue icing to make my life easier. I made up the cupcakes and then made our super cute ocean friends while they were baking.
To make the ocean candies, I used this silicone mold and candy melts in various colors. To make one that was a little like our friend Dory, I used a toothpick and put yellow candy down on the lines and then filled the rest with blue. While it’s not perfect, of course, I think they turned out pretty cute. The candies take just a few minutes to harden and then they’re ready to be added to our jars.
- candy melts in various colors
- blue icing
- blue cake mix
- graham crackers
- Bake cupcakes according to package.
- Make ocean shapes using silicone mold.
- Crush 1 graham cracker in the bottom of a half pint mason jar.
- Add 1 cupcake on top of crushed graham cracker.
- Push one ocean shaped candy against the inside of the jar.
- Add a spoonful of icing.
- Place another cupcake in jar.
- Top with icing to fill the jar.
- Stick a couple of ocean candies on the top for decoration.

How fun are these for a party?!? Of course, we made them for Finding Dory, but they’ll be perfect for any ocean-themed for underwater party!
I’m super excited to share some more great Finding Dory ideas from some of my favorite bloggers. If you’re having a party or the kids are just in love with all things Dory, we’ve got you covered!
