There have been so many times since I became a mom that I’ve felt like the Odd Mom Out. I’m not your typical mom and I’m rather socially awkward. I would like to make some more friends, but I won’t fake who I am to do so. My best friend is the same best friend that I’ve had since 7th grade. She lives about 5 minutes down the road from me and I constantly have a Facebook chat open with her so we can shoot quick messages back and forth. It used to be an AIM box, but that’s changed. Is that still around? Anyway…
I sat down with the hubby to watch the first two episodes of Bravo’s newest scripted comedy, Odd Mom Out, and I had already laughed aloud before the opening credits! I immediately knew this was going to be a hit! This is a show I know all my Mommy friends will love!
Odd Mom Jill has an interesting perspective into the crazy world of the Upper East Side, something I know nothing about other than what I see on TV. To most, money is no object and their stresses consist of how to get your child into the best private school, which elite cycling class you should attend, or when to add a “Von” to your name to move up a class. Jill hilariously navigates the social scene; one awkward moment at a time.
According to her kids, Jill like to have underwear dance parties! It made me ridiculous happy to know I’m not the only one that walks around the house all day in a shirt and underwear! We see Jill “dressed” like this several times in the first two episodes.
Around here we don’t have quite the wealth they do on the Upper East Side, but I’ve encountered quite a few situations where I definitely feel like poor folk. I have friends that I wouldn’t invite to my house because it’s a townhouse in a crappy neighborhood, while they live in giant houses on big open lots. Then again, I’ve found moms that won’t be sending their child back to the preschool that Charlie attended this year because the price for next year is $160 each month. I know to some that’s not a lot, but to others, it’s the difference between making it or not.
While you’re watching Odd Mom Out and folding the laundry (because we can’t all have 10 employees for our house), enjoy a few Mommy Drinks!
A Mom-Osa is perfectly acceptable with breakfast (or maybe FOR breakfast)!
I’m not a mojito fan, but I know plenty of moms who would enjoy this Mom-ito!
Of course, you could throw a little screening party on premiere night, June 8th at 10/9c on Bravo, and serve up these drinks for Mom!
To help you pick up some supplies for your screening party (or even party of one), I’m giving away $20 in PayPal cash!
Sweepstakes: You have an opportunity to win $20,000 in each of the first 4 weeks of premiere episodes (starting 6/8 – 6/29) through the Tune-In to Win Sweepstakes. Tune in live at 10/9c on Mondays (6/8-6/29) for the secret hashtag and tweet it out to @BravoTV each week for your chance to win!
