It’s been a few years since we went to the Circus, so I was pretty excited when UniverSoul Circus invited us to attend as their guests on opening night in Baltimore.

In all honesty, I was a little unsure about going or not because I had previously heard UniverSoul Circus is an all-black circus. And while there’s nothing wrong with that, I didn’t want my family to be the only non-black family there. I wasn’t wrong and I do feel like we probably stuck out a little, but we had an awesome time!

From the minute we entered the Big Top, you could tell it was going to be fun.

Owen rode a camel with Daddy before the show started.

There are performances featuring talent from all over the world! Some of the performances include Bone Breaking Contortionists (Home Country: Guinea) , Roller Skaters (Ethiopia), Elephants (USA), Teeter Board & Hand Vaulting (Gabon, Guinea, Ethiopia), Mixed Animal Act (Mexico) featuring Zebras and Camels, Aerial Silks (China), Horses (Gabon, Guinea, Russia), and perennial favorites Caribbean Dancers (Trinidad and Tobago).

Charlie’s favorite part of the Circus was the “crazy dancing” (Caribbean Dancers on stilts). They were pretty cool!

Between all of the Circus Performances, there are a ton of interactive activities for the crowd! Some of these involve guests going into the ring for fun – like the dance contest or the make believe band.

Owen’s favorite part of the show was when they released giant balls into the crowd. Check out our Facebook Live with all the ball excitement!
