Frozen Yogurt Bites with fruits and granola

In a house with two little ones, someone is always hungry. And by someone, I mean both. When one gets something to eat, the other automatically needs the same thing. I mean, he might eat all of the remaining food in the house, so you better get it while it's there! I'm pretty sure that's what goes through these boys' heads.

Charlie eats lunch at school, but comes home and eats lunch again. Then… the dreaded 3:30 PM starvation. Every day around 3:30 PM, Charlie cries (literally) about how hungry he is and how mean I am for not immediately giving him something to eat. (Please picture me in the kitchen cooking dinner while this is happening.)

I love being able to have snacks and drinks ready for them. The boys can grab a Capri Sun Organic with their afternoon snack. They're both able to open the pouches on their own and I don't feel guilty about what they're having. Capri Sun Organic is definitely a win-win for us: the boys get to have something they want and I know it's a wholesome drink option that contains one serving of fruit in each pouch (each pouch provides 1/2 cup fruit juice which is one serving of fruit according to the U.S. Dietary Guidelines).

You all know Charlie loves helping me in the kitchen, he's my little Mini Chef! This week, Charlie helped me prep some snacks to keep in the freezer for when those afternoon hunger pains strike!

Ingredients
  • favorite flavor of greek yogurt
  • granola
  • fruit, diced
Instructions
  1. Crush a small amount of granola into the bottom of a silicone baking cup.
  2. Top with greek yogurt until about ¾ full.
  3. Push fruit down into the yogurt a bit.
  4. Freeze on a tray (so they stay flat on the bottom) for about 3 hours.
  5. Enjoy!
Notes
You can mix up the flavor combinations, but to start we went with similar yogurt colors/flavors for the matching fruit.

Once frozen, you can place individual servings into a large freezer bag and let the kids pull one out as needed.

And because there's nothing really specific about this recipe, there's no way to go wrong! Kids love helping and being proud of their creations! I had no idea Charlie would love Key Lime yogurt, but he picked it out at the store and chose to put it with his kiwi and it's his favorite one!

And since it's finally getting warm outside, we can take our afternoon snack out to get a little playtime in before dinner. Bubbles, chalk, a snack, and a juice drink (with no added sugar) for the win!

Capri Sun Organic is available at retailers nationwide for $4.29 per 10 pack of 6-oz. pouches in the following flavors: Fruit Punch, Tropical Punch, Apple, and Grape.

We need snack time to be easy! So, even though these snacks take a bit of time in the freezer, they're quick and easy to put together and will keep great in the freezer!

These frozen yogurt bites with fruit and granola make for a great afternoon snack! The best part is that the kids can help make them!

What are some of your favorite snacks to get through the afternoon hunger pains?
